Anadolu Agency reported that the goal of this massive and indiscriminate bombing campaign is to make the Gaza Strip uninhabitable, thus forcing out most, if not all, of the region's more than two million inhabitants. Salama Maarouf, head of the Government Press Office of the Gaza Strip, issued a statement regarding the massive bombardment of the region on Telegram on Sunday, Nov. 26, amid an ongoing temporary humanitarian pause between Israel and Hamas.
"The Israeli Occupation Forces have dropped 40,000 tons of explosives on the Strip [since Oct. 7], and the atrocities of the Occupation [Forces] have unfolded away from the scrutiny of cameras," said Maarouf.
Maarouf added that "the bombs recently used by the Occupation [Forces] have never been used before, and hundreds of martyrs are buried in the places where they died. The devastation by the Occupation [Forces] reflects its intent to make Gaza uninhabitable."
Pictures and footage coming out of Gaza shot by multiple mainstream media outlets prove the extent of the devastation in the Strip.
Reuters especially took drone footage shots of Gaza right before the conflict and during the temporary ceasefire.

In one piece of footage taken before Oct. 7, the Reuters drone was able to capture a busy urban area in Gaza, with children playing, people walking and driving along a tree-lined boulevard. One footage even showed children going to school on a donkey cart, and another shows people having fun at a waterpark.
Now, none of these vibrant scenes of life can be found in Gaza. Drone footage of the Nusseirat refugee camp, where Reuters once took footage of children playing, is now nearly devoid of life, with Israeli indiscriminate bombardment showing widespread destruction of the camp, with smoking craters and flattened buildings.
Scenes like the ones seen by Reuters in Nusseirat have played out all over the Gaza Strip thanks to weeks of Israeli indiscriminate bombing from the land, sea and air as well as a subsequent ground invasion in North Gaza. All of this has resulted in over 15,000 people in Gaza killed and a major humanitarian crisis as more than a million people have been forced to flee their homes to find shelter elsewhere in the enclave.
"The days of respite have laid bare the enormity of the significant massacre, resulting in substantial destruction to infrastructure and residences," said Maarouf.
"One-third of the Gaza Strip's population has yet to receive essential supplies, and the absence of all international institutions is evident," he added, calling on the international community to step up and compel Israel to cease its indiscriminate targeting of Palestinians.
