Pedersen opened the show by quoting former President and Founding Father Thomas Jefferson who said: "An educated citizenry is vital for the requisite for our survival as a free people." He then played a video of supposedly "educated" Americans being asked about what they know about the country.
The program hosts were not impressed at all by the answers of the young Americans interviewed in the video. Pedersen said he would be severely disappointed as a parent after hearing the respondents' answers. Townsend agreed, adding that the interviewees were grown American adults whose answers showed absolutely no idea or connection to their country.
"ShadyGrooove" remarked that he doubts if the American people know the history of their educational system. In reply, "InTheMatrixxx" shared that the U.S. public education system began when education reformer and erstwhile Massachusetts Rep. Horace Mann followed the Prussian model of education.
The Prussian model, which was developed in Germany, provided skills needed for the early industrialized world such as reading, writing and arithmetic. It also emphasized a strict education that taught duty, discipline, respect for authority and the ability to follow orders. Pedersen played a video about the Prussian model, which explained that its true purpose was to instill loyalty to the monarchy or government and train young men for either military or civil service. Elite children destined for higher offices attended private schools. Meanwhile, the rest of the population did not have access to secondary education and were destined to join the working class.
The video further revealed that the American education system based on the Prussian model is designed for the good of the government and not for the good of the people. Public schools squeezed out independent thinking from the masses and replaced it with obedience and conformity.
Moreover, the video said the Prussian model was influenced by philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte, who had a deep influence on the rise of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. The founding father of German nationalism was also deemed the spiritual father of modern Neo-Nazism.
"Education should aim at destroying free will so that after pupils are thus schooled, they will be incapable – throughout the rest of their lives – of thinking or acting otherwise than as their school masters would have wished," Fichte said. He noted that when this technique is perfected, every government in charge of education for more than one generation will be able to control their subjects without the need for armies or police.
Townsend pointed out that it was very interesting to recognize why Americans were "put into camps and indoctrinated" at a young age. He continued that children being constantly taught to memorize things instead of thinking critically was meant by design. Pedersen agreed, stating that the public education system has turned schools into indoctrination centers that dumb down American children.
