In recent days during an interview on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” program, Washington Post ‘Republican’ columnist Jennifer Rubin used language to call for the destruction of the GOP and President Donald Trump that echoes previous Marxist revolutionaries.
In calling for the shunning and shaming of all 63-plus million supporters of President Donald Trump – all of whom are American citizens, by the way – Rubin said it was all part of a grand scheme to “burn down” the Republican Party.
“It’s not only that Trump has to lose, but that all his enablers have to lose,” she said. “We have to collectively, in essence, burn down the Republican Party. We have to level them because if there are survivors — if there are people who weather this storm, they will do it again.
“They will take this as confirmation that, ‘Hey, it just pays to ride the wave – look at me, I’ve made it through.’ Up and down the ticket – federal, state and local offices – the country has to repudiate this,” she actually said.
“Survivors?” “Burn down?” “Level them?” “Weather this storm?”
If that wasn’t bad enough, Rubin, a nominally ‘right-leaning’ writer, actually called for Democratic victories over Republicans next fall despite the fact that the Donkey Party has moved so far to the Left every authoritarian dictator of the 20th and 21st centuries pale by comparison.
“This has become a dysfunctional anti-government party. That is not what the country wants and what it needs. And the proof is in the pudding,” she said. “The reason they engage in voter suppression is because their underlying agenda is very unpopular. No one's in favor, it turns out, of taking away people's health care. People don't like it when you come after Medicaid and Medicare.”
None of this is even remotely true.
Republicans don’t want to ‘take away’ health care; they want to dismantle Obamacare and most additional government regulations because those are ‘taking away’ healthcare options for tens of millions of Americans. (Related: The Obama-Biden Scandal Series: ‘The Obamacare Debacle’ (Video).)
An ‘anti-government party?’ How so? Wanting to ditch onerous, expensive, and pointless regulations that inhibit growth, stunt research and development, hamper job creation and do nothing except empower government over the private sector isn’t “anti-government,” it’s anti-regulations. It’s support for the Constitution. It’s federalism.
And ‘voter suppression?’ That’s nothing but a code phrase to push back against Republican efforts to shore up voter ID laws. We have to have a picture ID to get on a plane, buy a pack of cigarettes, buy liquor, get into a government building, and for other purposes — but somehow requiring someone to have an ID to show they are a citizen and thus have the right to vote is “suppression.”
Rubin then suggests the GOP shift to being more like Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), the Trump hater who lost two presidential bids like Hillary Clinton.
“And if they don't, then they're going to lose election after election. And, frankly, that would be fine, too. My hope is that Democrats don't blow it. My hope is that Democrats are able to pull together a coalition that's large enough to govern, and that we can have some sane governance for a period of time,” Rubin said.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is a powerful thing. Obviously Rubin cares a lot more about getting invited to those ‘insider DC’ cocktail parties than she does about the future of our country, because a nation governed by Democrats (take a look at our larger cities, Jen) would be akin to turning America into one giant Venezuelan cesspool of misery.
But what does she care? She’ll settle for the scraps they’ll throw her.
Meanwhile, if Americans are concerned about salvaging their heritage and their founding, they’ll reject Rubin and her Democrats and reelect President MAGA Trump.
