What Democratic presidential contenders are REALLY proposing: Quadrillions in new spending and debt
By JD Heyes // Aug 01, 2019

Have you ever heard of the numerical denomination of “quadrillion?” If you haven’t, it’s the equivalent of a 1 with 15 zeros.

And if you’re talking about a monetary figure, something in the “quadrillion” range is so mind-blowingly astronomical as to be nearly impossible to imagine.

And yet, if any one of the Democrats currently running for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination were to defeat POTUS Donald Trump next year and be fortunate enough to have a Democrat-majority Congress, you’re going to hear the numerical denomination of quadrillion a lot more.

In fact, it’ll take the implementation of just one program to reach those astronomical, near-mythical levels of spending.

As The National Sentinel reports:

A new analysis of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” found that households in key swing states would pay at least an additional $70,000 in the first year of its implementation, and then tens of thousands more in energy and other costs per year thereafter.

The study by the Competitive Enterprise Institute found that radically transforming energy consumption in the United States would have devastating economic effects on all Americans, as well as the U.S. economy, the driver of the global economy.

CEI estimated that the costs of implementing the GND in Pennsylvania would be in the neighborhood of $2 quadrillion; in Florida, $1.4 quadrillion. Other states like New Hampshire, which is much smaller, would get off relatively easy with an implementation cost of $103 trillion. Oh, and the GND would destroy all combustable engines and the entire fossil fuel industry.

There’s more. (Related: If you’re tempted to blame Trump for signing the $1.3 trillion spending bill, don’t — here’s why.)

Any one of several 2020 Democrat proposals would destroy the economies of the U.S. and the world

— “Medicare for All:” This would take Obamacare to the next logical level, which is full government (socialist) control over all healthcare in the United States. And the national debt.

An estimate by the libertarian-leaning Mercatus Center at George Mason University found that the program would cost at least $32 trillion over a 10-year period, or an additional $3.2 trillion per year over and above current budgets which, in FY 2019, amounted to $4.4 trillion (on revenues of just $3.4 trillion).

Besides being cost-prohibitive, the fact that all Americans are organic and would need healthcare at some point in their lives, this scheme alone would give the government cradle-to-grave control over our lives.

By the way, Sen. Bernie Sanders thinks the price tag is $40 trillion.

— Free healthcare for all illegal aliens: There haven’t been any studies on this proposal yet, but there have been cost analyses to provide taxpayer-supported care and benefits to those in our country illegally in the past.

“Even after deducting the $19 billion in taxes paid by illegal immigrants, the 12.5 million of them living in the country results in a $116 billion burden on the economy and taxpayers each year,” Kirstin Tate, a libertarian writer and researcher, noted in April in The Hill. “About two-thirds of this amount is absorbed by local and state taxpayers, who are often the least able to share the costs.”

— A grand a month: Andrew Yang, who is polling near zero, has nonetheless proposed a favorite Left-wing economic plan: Paying every American $1,000 a month, for nothing. We don’t know how Yang arrived at the grand-a-month figure (why not $10,000? A million?) but according to an analysis by Fast Company, that would add 50 percent to the current federal budget, or about $2 trillion per year.

— “Overhauling” Education is a big Democrat priority as well, which always means spending more money. But according to a recent analysis by the Manhattan Institute, American education spending is already at an all-time high — and far higher than most other industrialized nations.

Last week, the 2020 Democrats who appeared on day 1 of the debates, Tuesday, proposed some $200 trillion worth of new spending, according to an analysis by the Washington Free Beacon.

Conclusion: America cannot afford Left-wing Democrat socialism.
