While the gun grabbers in DC would love to have the rest of America operating in the utopia they imagine with heavy restrictions on guns and gun owners like Chicago, the reality is that the city has nearly doubled its gun violence in the past year. Remember, Chicago is one of America’s city’s that infringes the most on the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
CNN, in reporting on the murder of 16-year-old Andre Taylor in March, added:
Andre’s death is part of a massive spike in violence since the start of the year. By March 31, 141 people had been killed, according to the Chicago Police Department. On Thursday, eight were shot and two of them died in one hour alone, Chicago Police said.
The 141 deaths in the first three months of the year mark a 71.9% jump from the same period in 2015, when 82 people were killed. It’s the worst start to a year since 1999, when 136 people died in the first three months the year, according to the Chicago Tribune.
At that pace — an average of three killings every two days — Chicago would have 564 homicides by the end of the year. That would eclipse the 468 killings recorded in 2015 and 416 in 2014.
The problem for CNN and other state-controlled outlets, as well as anti-gun politicians, is that the problem is not the result of law-abiding citizens being armed. It’s the product of infringement upon the Second Amendment and restrictive gun measures that leaves guns in the hands of criminals and law-abiding citizens as defenseless victims.
Joshua Krause writes at Guns in the News, “Despite having some of the most draconian gun laws in country, the city of Chicago has long been notorious for its mind-boggling murder statistics. To the surprise of no one who supports gun rights, the latest statistics out of Chicago show that the city is still a prime example of what happens when you hinder gun rights for law-abiding citizens.”
While crime rates have declined in America, Chicago has remained among the top three cities with the most murders since 1985! In 2012, according to the FBI, Chicago had 500 gun murders, the most of any city in the country!
Under Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago became one of the largest murder capitals of America.
Gun Ownership in America is the highest in the world and yet, as a country, we are not even in the top 100 countries in terms of murder rates. This confirms the claim of Daniel Greenfield who wrote, “An armed society spends more time stopping evil than contemplating it.” If only Chicago would learn this and stop making attempts to infringe the God-given rights of its citizens to arm themselves.
