Once the war was over, the industry needed something (or someone) to sell this non-food item to, and that’s when Canadian scientists figured out how to make it less toxic so the FDA would accept it as “food” stuff for gullible Americans to eat.
So, ship-lubricating rapeseed motor oil was repurposed and slipped into the food supply, and the FDA, being one of the most corrupt regulatory agencies on planet earth, allowed it. Consumers often believe if they go to a health food store, they can buy nearly anything sold there, especially if the label says organic, and they’re good to go. Wrong.
