Court documents: Model who was flown on Epstein’s Lolita Express committed SUICIDE two years after
By Ramon Tomey // Jan 09, 2024

A model who was reportedly flown on the Lolita Express jet owned by the convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein took her own life two years after that flight, according to recently unsealed court documents.

Ruslana Korshunova, a Russian model born in Kazakhstan, was reportedly flown on the billionaire's private jet in June 2006. Citing flight logs, the Daily Mail pointed out that this trip happened two years before her apparent suicide in 2008. Korshunova was just 18 at the time of the flight.

The model was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on July 2, 1987, and moved to New York City when she was 15 after being discovered by the London-based Model 1 agency. Korshunova's career included numerous high-profile modeling gigs, appearing on the covers of Vogue's Russian edition and Elle's French edition. She was also featured in ads for luxury fashion brands Marc Jacobs, DKNY and Nina Ricci.

The late convicted sex offender was also listed on the same June 2006 flight as Korshunova, alongside five other people. Epstein was notorious for sexually exploiting underage girls on his private island, Little St. James. He was arrested a month after the flight on a single count of soliciting prostitution, a relatively minor charge that was criticized by some as "special treatment." A month before the June 2006 trip, Epstein was charged with multiple counts of unlawful sex with a minor.

In June 2008, Korshunova jumped to her death from her ninth-floor apartment in Manhattan days before her 21st birthday. At the time of the suicide, her friends and family said she displayed no signs of wanting to take her own life. The model was even described as a cheerful girl who loved life.

While Korshunova did not leave a suicide note, investigators found a long message on her computer describing how she missed her home and family. While this did not come true in her life, it was eventually fulfilled when she was buried in Russia. According to Korshunova's mother, her daughter "would want her beloved Moscow to be her last resting place."

Korshunova "bottled up" problems

Aside from the message of missing her home and family, investigators also found that Korshunova had been working with a group to help her deal with repressed memories and past trauma. The nature of that trauma was never determined, according to Breitbart.

The model had mentioned to friends that she was homesick and thinking of quitting modeling in the weeks before her demise. She had also lost a significant amount of weight and was complaining of a mysterious stomach ailment.

Close friend Artem Perchenok, who met with Korshunova hours before she took her life, said she kept her problems "bottled up." He recounted: "When a job would go bad, she'd take it out on herself." Other friends also mentioned how the model felt confused about the direction of her life.

It was only five years after Korshunova died that her name would once again emerge. This came in the form of a 2011 exchange between Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's victims, and her attorney. Giuffre was the plaintiff in a 2015 court case against Epstein, and the documents she provided contained Korshunova's tragic fate.

According to the exchange, Giuffre's attorney asked if she knew Korshunova. Giuffre replied in the negative, saying she does not recall seeing the model on Little St. James.

"I can say that I have never had any meetings with her," Giuffre said. "Sorry not to be of any help there. I am [also] sorry to hear the news of Ruslana, and my condolences are with her family and friends."
