Likud Party official alleges Putin supports Hamas, warns Russia will “pay the price”
By Belle Carter // Oct 30, 2023

The head of the libertarian caucus within Israel's Likud Party has dragged Russia into the ongoing conflict in Gaza, alleging President Vladimir Putin's government to be supporting the militant group, the Iran-backed Hamas.

Likud's Amir Weitmann threatened Russia that Israel will come after them once their war with Gaza is over for helping the militant group that he called Nazis, who "beheaded babies" and "raped" women. He claimed that everyone has seen such atrocities with their own eyes during an appearance on Russia's state-run RT News network this week.

While speaking about recent claims relating to al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, Weitmann criticized Russia, saying that they are going to finish this war and win it because they are stronger. "Russia is supporting the enemies of Israel. Russia is supporting Nazi people who want to commit genocide on us and Russia will pay the price," Weitmann said. "Afterwards, we're not forgetting what you're doing, we're not forgetting, we will come, we will make sure Ukraine wins. We will make sure that you pay the price for what you have done, you as Russia." (Related: GENOCIDE CALL: Oldest Israeli army reservist wants to eradicate Palestinian families, children.)

Meanwhile, unlike the unarmed men, women and children Israel is relentlessly bombing from the sky, Information Liberation points out that Russia has a giant nuclear arsenal that it can use to defend itself. Critics could say that Russia would be ready, should Israel try to make the Eurasian country "pay the price."

Observes also find it "hypocritical" for Israel to slam Russia when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has declared all-out war with Hamas and attacked the enclave. Following the Hamas' catastrophic strike on October 7, Israel subsequently launched heavy airstrikes on Gaza and warned that it's preparing for a ground invasion as a humanitarian crisis grows in the Palestinian territory. Nearly 2,800 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Associated Press, while more than 1,400 Israelis have been killed.

A few days later, al-Ahli Hospital was struck, leaving around 500 dead. Israel and Hamas this week accused each other of the explosion. "Hamas has a committee that collects all evidence of the Israeli occupation's responsibility for the massacres in Gaza and the Baptist Hospital massacre, as well," Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum told Newsweek on Wednesday. "There is a lot of evidence, eyewitnesses and videos from Hamas about the occupation committing the Baptist Hospital massacre and the wreckage of rockets. Hamas will publish all the evidence to the world that confirms this massacre was committed intentionally, and will present it to international jurisdictions."

On the other hand, IDF blamed Hamas, saying: "A failed rocket launch by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization hit the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza City." "Islamic Jihad struck a Hospital in Gaza, the IDF did not. Listen to the terrorists as they realize this themselves," the IDF said in another post, sharing what it claimed was a phone conversation between two Hamas militants speaking about the attack.

Biden sides with Israel, ruling them out as the hospital bomber

President Joe Biden has been vocal in showing support for Israel. He traveled to Tel Aviv last week and told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he believes in the latter's claim that it was not them who bombed the Al-Ahli hospital. "Based on what I've seen, it appears as though it was done by the other team, not you. But there's a lot of people out there not sure, so we have to overcome a lot of things," the POTUS said. According to Reuters, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the incident an act of dehumanization and urged the U.S. and Israel to release satellite images to prove they were not involved.

Meanwhile, during Biden's 7 1/2-hour visit last Wednesday in Israel, he claimed to have closed a deal to get limited humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt. He also reportedly pleaded for Israelis not to allow rage over the deadly Hamas attack to consume them.
