Left-wing elitist academic at Berkeley claims Americans who live in rural communities are “bad people” who ought to be shamed
By JD Heyes // Nov 17, 2019

Tenured Left-wing academics at universities around America continue to brainwash students into hating their country, its founding principles, and anyone who isn’t like them.

The most recent example of this outrageous indoctrination comes from the University of California-Berkeley — supposedly the “birthplace of free speech on campus.”

To one academic there, if you’re member of a rural, farming community, you’re not a good person and you don’t deserve to be treated well or with any respect.

Jackson Kernion, who identifies as a “graduate student instructor” at the university, said recently in a since-deleted tweet, according to PJ Media, "I unironically embrace the bashing of rural Americans. They, as a group, are bad people who have made bad life decisions. Some, I assume are good people. But this nostalgia for some imagined pastoral way of life is stupid and we should shame people who aren’t pro-city.”

Just. Wow. And the liberal Left claims they are so much more tolerant, compassionate and caring than everyone else.

According to Campus Reform:

Kernion began the thread by advocating against affordable healthcare solutions in rural America, saying that “Rural Healthcare Should be expensive! And that expense should be borne by those who choose rural America!”

He then argued that any promotion of “affordable rural healthcare” is the same as saying that Americans who live in rural communities ought “to be subsidized by those who chose a more efficient way of life.”

‘Efficient?’ Kernion obviously doesn’t know any country folk; they are some of the most frugal, ‘efficient,’ resourceful people in America.

He then said, “Same goes for rural broadband. And gas taxes.”

How about food, too? We have to transport it great distances to feed those rural folk, huh Kernion?

Oh, wait. The food comes from farmers and growers who live (anyone?) in rural America. So they’ve got the food already. Maybe they should charge city dwellers like this genius a lot more money to transport food to them because it’s not very … ‘efficient.’

‘Some Americans just don’t need much’

In any event, this toad went onto say, “It should be uncomfortable to live in rural America. It should be uncomfortable not to move.”

Well, for many rural Americans, life isn’t very comfy. Many work from sun-up to sundown doing tough jobs that pansies like this fool will never attempt, let alone master. But even if rural folk want to live a comfy life, who is this jerk to deny them their lifestyle?

As Campus Reform noted further, Kernion then attempted to justify his idiocy with economic arguments about not making life in rural America “*artificially* cheaper,” which it isn’t anyway. He then launched into personal attacks against Americans who aren’t “pro-city.”

After he was unceremoniously trashed for his stupidity and rural bigotry online, he issued a pseudo-apology for the “tone” of his criticism.

“Pretty sure I did a bad tweet here. Gonna delete it. I’ll want to reflect on it more later, but my tone is way crasser and meaner than I like to think I am.”

Ya think, fella?

His behavior isn’t the first example of how Left-wing liberal urban elites think about Americans who don’t share their lifestyles or ZIP codes. These people are especially angry at Americans who voted for Donald Trump in 2016.

As Salena Zito wrote in the New York Post in January 2017, a week before Trump’s inauguration on the elite Left’s resentment of Middle America, “Some Americans just don’t need much.”

“…[T]hey don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to have a 1,500-square-foot house, watch football and go to church on Sunday. They don’t want to leave their hometowns to come to Silicon Valley or Washington, DC, or Manhattan. They place great value on community and living near family and carrying out family traditions,” she added.

“That’s not hate, that’s not stupidity, that’s not racism — it’s their own version of the American dream.”

That concept, apparently, is beyond the Left-wing elitist’s ability to mentally grasp.
