In recent days Democrats have latched onto a new “issue” they think is a ‘winner’ for the 2018 midterms and beyond: Abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The instigator of this lunacy is Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, who said last week that it’s time to “reimagine” the agency as something other than one dedicated to removing illegal aliens from the country.
As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, Gillibrand said in an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo last week that ICE had become a “deportation force” and as such it was time to get rid of the agency in its present form.
“I believe that it has become a deportation force and I think you should separate out the criminal justice from the immigration issues and I think you should reimagine ICE under a new agency with a very different mission and take those two missions out,” she said, adding that the agency should be replaced with “something that actually works.”
Democrats aren’t fooling anyone but their easily-manipulated supporters: They hate ICE because they love illegal immigrants more than American citizens and want to flood the country with new voters. In fact, they’d prefer America was different from virtually every other country in the world by abolishing our borders altogether.
Not that The New York Times would want you to believe Democrats are the party of open borders.
As reported by Information Liberation, the Times “fact-checked” that claim recently, proclaiming it to be “false,” according to correspondent Linda Qiu, writing in the paper’s “Fact Check of the Day” last week.
Yes, Democrats want open borders
Under the headline, “No, Democrats Don’t Want ‘Open Borders,’” she wrote:
President Trump has falsely claimed at least two dozen times since taking office that Democrats want to open American borders. But legislation shows that Democrats support border security measures, though not the border wall he wants to build.
Maybe past legislation “shows that Democrats support border security measures” but if that was really true today, at least some of them would have gotten on board with POTUS Trump and most Republicans during recent efforts to pass immigration reform that included eventual legal status for Dreamers and ‘border security measures.’ (Related: Leftist Democratic LA Mayor Garcetti BOOED off-stage at open borders event; We’re seeing the death of the Democratic Party.)
But they didn’t, and the legislation failed.
Also, you get the feeling that Qiu missed it when the Democratic National Committee’s deputy chairman Keith Ellison, who has represented Minnesota’s 5th District in the House of Representatives since 2007, was photographed recently wearing a shirt that says in Spanish, “I don’t believe in borders.”

Then there is this tweet from his official Twitter page depicting four young women holding a sign that says, “My dreams don’t have borders.”

Far-Left Democratic supporters are also increasingly calling for open borders as well. In a February op-ed for the Left-wing Guardian newspaper, Reece Jones, a professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and author of the book, “Violent Borders,” argues that Democrats not only should back open borders but find a “forceful pro-immigration rebuttal” to Republicans’ “coherent but racist” border and immigration law enforcement policies.
Now, according to Democrats, enforcing the law is racist. They use that term so often we don’t think they really know what it means.
The Times as a news organization is as fraudulent and anti-American as the rest of the legacy American media. They hate our country as it was founded and they believe it must be “transformed” into something it was never meant to be. For that to happen, our borders must be abolished as well as the federal agencies charged with border security and enforcement.
Their position is becoming more and more obvious.
