It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Entertainers, musicians and political pundits on the Left are supposed to be able to say anything about anyone on the Right without paying a price.
No loss of opportunities. No firings. No advertiser flight.
Those things only happen to conservatives and supporters of President Donald Trump.
Not anymore.
Last week TBS’ Samantha Bee, host of Full Frontal, made headlines (and made millions gasp) when she actually called first daughter Ivanka Trump a “feckless c**t” over what Bee believes is Ivanka’s father’s immigration policies. They aren’t; they’re Obama’s policies. Trump is the president who’s trying to change them, but can’t because he’s being obstructed by RINOs, Democrats and federal courts.
If that wasn’t outrageous enough, Bee had to throw in a little incest jab as well. “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?” she said.
For a while, it appeared as though another Left-wing, foul-mouthed, intolerant ‘entertainer’ was going to get off scot-free because such language and insults, once previously way out of bounds, are fine these days as long as they’re directed towards Trump and/or his base.
Finally, however, one of these Trump-hating kooks has gone too far for some people.
Bee apologized for her filthy mouth and insults after advertisers began fleeing her program.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it,” she tweeted.

But the apology only came after advertisers began fleeing her program. The first one out was Autotrader. The company tweeted: “Thank you to those who reached out regarding our sponsorship of ‘Full Frontal.’ The comments expressed by Samantha Bee were offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company. As a result, we have suspended our sponsorship of ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.’”

State Farm Insurance has also pulled its ads from her show. “We have asked TBS to suspend our advertising in the program and are reviewing any future placements. We constantly review programs to ensure alignment to our programming guidelines and brand values,” the company announced.
Others, like financial firm Discover, had no issues with what she said. “As a national brand, our ads run on national broadcast, cable, digital, social, outdoor media, and just about everywhere in-between,” the company tweeted. “Our media buys consistently change and reflect the diverse content and audiences we serve. Editorial direction and content are created by the individual program.”
In addition to taking heat from advertisers and the general public, others noted the utter hypocrisy in the Pravda media, noting that Bee still has a job, at least, unlike Roseanne Barr, who was fired immediately by ABC after a racist joke about former top Obama aide, Valerie Jarrett. (Related: ABC immediately cuts ties with Roseanne Barr but continues to air homophobe Jimmy Kimmel?)
One of them was former White House spokesman for President George W. Bush, Ari Fleischer.
“I remember when a congressional staffer to a backbench GOP Congressman criticized the way the Obama children dressed at a Rose Garden event. It made the network news. The MSM was outraged for days. She lost her job,” he tweeted.
“Compare ABC’s reaction to Roseanne Barr’s tweet w TBS’s non-reaction to Samantha Bee and you’ll see a double-standard in action. There’s no uprising against Bee. Why? Because she is liberal. Because the MSM protects Obama and his aides, but not Trump. The hypocrisy is sickening,” he continued.
Yes it is, but at least some corporations understand there still are lines you cannot cross.
