It seeks to end federal funding for hospitals and medical institutions that provide puberty blockers, hormone therapies, or surgical interventions to minors under the age of 19. The order frames these treatments as irreversible and harmful, accusing medical professionals of "maiming and sterilizing impressionable children" under the guise of "gender transition."
However, James has fired back – warning hospitals that compliance with Trump's EO would violate New York's anti-discrimination laws. In a letter sent to healthcare facilities, she emphasized that denying services to transgender individuals based on their gender identity or diagnosis of gender dysphoria while offering the same services to so-called "cisgender" individuals constitutes illegal discrimination under state law.
