Biden-Harris admin announces new AID PACKAGE for Ukraine but claims there isn’t enough money for Helene victims in NC
By Ramon Tomey // Oct 22, 2024

The Biden-Harris administration has announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth hundreds of millions of dollars while claiming that it doesn't have enough money to help the victims of Hurricane Helene.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced the $425 million arms package for Kyiv during an Oct. 16 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to a readout of the call provided by the White House, the said package includes "additional air defense capability, air-to-ground munitions, armored vehicles and critical munitions to meet Ukraine's urgent needs."

The readout also mentioned that Biden had briefed Zelensky "on his efforts to surge security assistance to Ukraine over the remainder of his term in office." For his part, the comedian-turned-president updated the POTUS on his plan to achieve victory over Russia. The two leaders tasked their teams to engage in further consultations on the next steps, it further included.

The Ukrainian leader confirmed the call in a post on X, writing that he had spoken with Biden and thanked him for the $425 million package that reportedly included "long-range weapons." Zelensky wrote: "I am grateful to President Biden, both parties in Congress and the American people for the $425 million defense package announced today."

The news of the new military aid package for Kyiv comes amid the onslaught of Hurricane Helene in late September, followed by Hurricane Milton days after. According to a report by Reuters, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security offered a one-time "disaster assistance" payment of $750. FEMA denied that the $750 payment was a loan, in response to rumors that the emergency aid "will have to be repaid in full and defaulters will have their property seized by the government." Deanne Chriswell, FEMA administrator, also blasted the purportedly false claims in an interview with ABC News.

"It's frankly ridiculous and just plain false," she told the outlet. "This kind of rhetoric is not helpful to people."

FEMA's disaster assistance is a disaster in itself

Even Steve Watson of Modernity News could not help but comment on the measly aid FEMA has provided to the victims of Hurricane Helene in the Tar Heel State.

"While Americans in North Carolina, destitute from the hurricane, are told that they get basically nothing from the government – the Biden-Harris regime has announced another $425 million will be sent to Ukraine," he wrote.

"How many more disasters will occur in the U.S. over the next four years? With [Vice President Kamala] Harris in office, Americans will get nothing and the endless flow of money to Ukraine will continue without consideration. People are pissed, to put it mildly."

Watson shared the comments of several users on X incensed with the White House's new military aid package for Kyiv.

User @Kim_4VOLS wrote in reply to another user: "You are saying FEMA disaster assistance is broke and Congress must fund them more. Meanwhile, you send half a billion more to Ukraine? How is this even sane anymore? How can even the left back this?"

"Americans can't afford groceries and thousands just lost everything in hurricanes, and FEMA said they're out of money," remarked X user @GreenEy3sOpen. "But they managed to scrape up another half a billion for people halfway across the world. OK, makes perfect sense."

User @mjhubbard1 meanwhile shared: "Right now, there are whole communities of American citizens in [North Carolina and Tennessee] sleeping outside tents in the snow. City leaders, citizens and volunteers are desperately fundraising for heaters on social media just to keep them alive. Where is our government help for these people?"

User @evek29 ultimately pointed out that this refusal to help victims of Hurricane Helene at home shows the priorities of the ruling Democratic regime. "This is Biden and Kamala's agenda: Other countries first, America last – or maybe not at all," she wrote.
