He points out that both U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken have Ukrainian Jewish heritage and family histories associated with persecution by Russians. This, he believes, explains why the administration has been so steadfast in its support for this very expensive war.
Garland, who was appointed by Biden in January 2021, was raised in Conservative Judaism and his family’s last name was previously Garfinkel. His mother worked for Chicago’s Council for Jewish Elderly, and his grandparents fled antisemitic pogroms in modern-day Ukraine and Poland.
Garland has also been using his power to support Ukraine, helping them investigate war crimes and giving the green light for the transfer of millions of dollars of forfeited funds from Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeyev to be used in Ukraine.
Armstrong points out that Garland’s pursuit of prosecuting Trump is a preemptive move because if he retakes office, they will be out of a job in short order. Blinken, meanwhile, has been a prominent figure in supporting Jewish people and Israel. His great-grandfather, Meir Blinken, was born in the Russian Empire in what is now Ukraine and moved to the U.S. when he was 25. His son, Maurice Blinken, was part of a group that worked to convince the U.S. to back the creation of Israel.
He also takes issue with Victoria Nuland, who retired from her post as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs under Blinken earlier this year and was an aggressive proponent of American backing for Ukraine.
Her family roots include Eastern European Jewish immigrants from what was then the Soviet Union. She has served in every presidential administration in recent decades except for Trump’s, which is quite telling.
Her husband, Robert Kagan, is a neoconservative scholar who has been known for anti-Trump rhetoric and who left the Republican party when Trump was nominated. In his column for the Washington Post, he said that Trump will become a dictator and kill democracy.
As a side note, Kagan’s brother’s wife, Kimberly, is in charge of the Institute for the Study of War, which the mainstream media often cites in its reports portraying Russia as weak and fighting a losing battle.
Armstrong notes: “It is these people with personal vendettas against Russians who have usurped the power of the United States and positioned the Democrats to stuff in Biden, who they KNEW was incompetent. They have been running the country. They all should be hauled out and tried for Treason – but then again, there is NOBODY in Congress willing to defend our country or the people anymore.”
