Hungarian publicist: Insistence that Russia will attack Germany is Berlin’s scaremongering tactic to hide its incompetence
By Belle Carter // Jan 21, 2024

German mainstream media has been spreading the threat that Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to unleash military operations against Germany that could start a war in the following weeks.

This classified information was reportedly leaked to leading German tabloid newspaper Bild. According to the report, Germany's armed forces are preparing for an armed conflict with Russia, including hosting exercises regarding an escalation between NATO and Russia. The secret "scenario" obtained by the local news outlet would begin in February with the deployment of hundreds of thousands of NATO troops, culminating in a war that would break out in the summer of 2025.

However, one Hungarian commentator has already picked apart the entire story and listed three reasons why the story is nothing but a fearmongering story that globalists would want to sensationalize. As per Zsolt Bayer, the report included "obvious lies, lunacy, delusion," saying that if it were true, "it would mean nothing less than a third World War and the end of mankind."

Bayer lambasted the paper's claim that German forces would deploy tens of thousands of troops to fight Russia. He argued that there would be no point in deploying troops, as such a conflict would quickly go nuclear. "Then, the Germans would deploy tens of thousands of troops against Putin, while NATO would deploy hundreds of thousands? Really? And for what anyway? Such a world conflagration would be 'escalated' by the deployment of tactical and then the full nuclear arsenal. Why tens and hundreds of thousands of troops?" he wrote. "And will someone please tell me why Putin would attack NATO? What interest would he have in doing so?"

He further pointed out that Ukraine was a different story because it was not a NATO member and because Kyiv was "carrying out pogroms against Russians living there, and partly because the West, for some unfathomable reason, wanted to plant a nuclear arsenal at Russia’s doorstep."

The Hungarian also asserted that if Moscow were to attack Berlin, it would first need to occupy a heavily armed Poland. Furthermore, it would immediately have to face other countries such as the United States, and all other NATO members would be required to enter the conflict. The war would be nothing short of a World War Three. One last point why he thinks that all of this is just scaremongering propaganda is that if security experts "gloated" that Putin's men were unable to handle Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's troops, why would it even try to gamble sending its "beleaguered army" to battle all of NATO?

"While the West is constantly shouting today that 'Putin wouldn't even stop at Portugal,' we also hear from the same mouths that Putin and the Russians are not even able to hold the eastern parts of Ukraine. How do these two statements fit together? And let us not forget, the most competent person, the former German chancellor, said that a month after the attack on Ukraine, there was a peace plan that both the Russians and the Ukrainians would have signed," Bayer wrote.

He further went on to ask how this secret scenario was obtained by a journalist, to begin with. He also emphasized that the report, which made international headlines and was echoed across the German domestic media, was an attempt to influence public opinion and invoke fear. "But then what is it really about? It's that the German government has given Bild this information in an attempt to try and whip up fear by dismantling the growing discontent and resistance that this incompetent and idiotic government has caused and brought upon itself," he included in his commentary.

The Institute for the Study of War, a U.S. think tank, noted that such documents were ordinary in military planning. However, it said that the timeline was improbable, Business Insider (BI) reported. Bild and BI share a parent company, Axel Springer.

German Defense Ministry already has a detailed vision of Russia's Ukraine spillover invasion

In Germany's "exercise scenario," the Kremlin would be mobilizing 200,000 new recruits in February for a new offensive in Ukraine which would allow Moscow to make significant advances on the ground by June. It included that the following month, Russia would begin a campaign of hybrid warfare against the Baltic states Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, playing on Russia's "false narratives" that Russian-speaking minorities in these countries are being unfairly targeted to a degree that demands intervention. An eruption of violence in these countries will then justify the mobilization of Russian troops sent to Belarus and western Russia by September, the document laid out.

A month later, Putin will deploy troops at the Belarusian border with Poland and in Kaliningrad, which sits between Poland and Lithuania. According to the German government, it is then very likely that Russian troops will target the Suwalki Gap, a strip of land inside the Polish border with Lithuania. Meanwhile, the Kremlin would push forward anti-NATO narratives at home, claiming that the alliance is preparing to attack Russia. The said scenario further expects that NATO will deploy 300,000 troops to its eastern borders to deter Russian aggression, but it does not anticipate that the 31-member alliance will react until early 2025 – crucially, after the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5.
