A UPS driver was out delivering packages when several suspects surrounded her. The armed suspects then took off with her truck in broad daylight.
According to Prince George's County police, the carjacking was recorded on camera via a Ring doorbell. In the video, the female UPS driver can be seen surrounded by several suspects. The driver can also be heard yelling that her truck was taken at gunpoint.
According to the neighbor who shared the video, he originally thought that a couple was fighting out on the street. However, he was shocked to find out that a carjacking had happened in broad daylight.
"It’s very brazen, in the middle of the day. Most of the homes have cameras, so to do that right in front of everybody’s house who has front view cameras, it's a little unnerving," said the neighbor who did not want to be identified.
"You hope things get a little better. Maybe it’s the climate, but it’s unfortunate you have to be vigilant and watch your back," he added. (Related: CULTURE of THEFT: D.C. neighborhood CVS retailer gets routinely ransacked by a mob of kids.)
UPS released a statement saying in part that they are aware of the incident and are cooperating with the investigation. Police officers reported that the victim was not injured, but no arrests have been made as of press time.
The neighbor said the stolen UPS truck was abandoned not far from where it was stolen. He added that he also saw a tow truck pull it through the neighborhood shortly after the incident.

Late in November, prosecutors reported that four Philadelphia men were facing charges related to a widespread conspiracy to steal merchandise from UPS warehouses throughout the United States.
The four men are Quamaire Brown, Shamaire Brown, Aboudramane Karamoko and Sekou Fofanah, all of whom are either 19 or 20 years old. They were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit cargo theft each.
According to prosecutors, the men were all arrested in November. Karamoko was arrested in State College, Pennsylvania, and the three other men were taken into custody in Philadelphia.
The group and its other accomplices are accused of targeting several UPS facilities in Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island between January 2021 and April 2023.
The men often targeted warehouses during the late hours of Saturday night or early Sunday morning by either breaking windows or prying open loading bay doors. Once inside, the men would look for packages marked with "lithium-ion battery" warnings, which indicated high-value electronic devices like cell phones, often containing Apple products. The men also stole a gun.
Prosecutors reported that the stolen products were worth an estimated $1.6 million. If convicted, the men will face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The fine could also be double the amount involved in the theft, whichever is greater.
