Ben Armstrong outlines the difference between FAKE FREEDOM and REAL FREEDOM
By Kevin Hughes // Jul 11, 2023

Ben Armstrong of the New American magazine discussed the difference between fake freedom and real freedom on the July 4 edition of "The Ben Armstrong Show," in time for Independence Day.

He urged Americans to take a look at what freedom really is, warning that there is a lot of fake freedom out there and the American people don't have true freedom. He cited movie-going as an example of fake freedom.

Citizens in China can only watch films approved by the government, while most Americans can do it freely. But Armstrong pointed out that the U.S. is not really free to pick what they want to watch, thanks to politically correct liberals running Hollywood and blacklisting movies like "Sound of Freedom" and "The Passion of the Christ."

The journalist with the New American magazine cited racism as a second example. According to him, the government should not be allowed to practice racism in the form of making laws that oppress certain people or races. The Jim Crow laws that codified oppression of Blacks served as an "extremely racist" example.

The Jim Crow laws were a collection of statutes at the state and local levels that legalized racial segregation. These existed from after the Civil War until 1968.

Armstrong said Americans who live in a free society should fight laws that are oppressing people. Racism will be snuffed out in a truly free society with people having true freedom, he added.

Americans need FREE SPEECH to be truly free

According to Armstrong, everything is fake freedom without free speech. People being unable to speak out against the government is what makes a country communist.

"What makes a country not a free country is the inability to speak against the government. Or even if you can speak against the government, there are certain things you can't say then you're not really in a free society."

He noted that free speech was the No. 1 concern for the Founding Fathers, who understood that the American people need it in order to be truly free. But Armstrong noted that there was much more freedom of speech in the 1980s. While there were some people still trying to do political correctness, Americans of that time still respected freedom of speech.

Armstrong also expressed belief that America does not have free speech today and Americans do not have any freedom. Most people will not even dare discuss their opinions on the LGBT community for fear of their careers being destroyed. Given that people are getting banned from or kicked out of social media platforms, he remarked that America does not have real freedom of speech. "Overall, society has made it a no-no. Free speech is a no-no in America. You really can't say certain things in our society without the society trying to crush you."

He mentioned that Americans do have free speech because they have the chance to speak out their minds. Sadly, Armstrong said people are too scared and intimidated to do that and have actual free speech.
