Elon Musk publicly denounces transgender medical interventions for children
By Ramon Tomey // Mar 21, 2023

Technology bigwig Elon Musk publicly rebuked transgender medical interventions for children, such as puberty blockers and gender surgeries, in a tweet.

"Every child goes through an identity crisis before their personality [or] identity crystallizes," he wrote. "Therefore, we shouldn't allow severe, irreversible surgery or sterilizing drugs that they may regret until at least age 18."

His tweet came in response to a video by Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, who remarked that being a "good parent" involves believing children when they identify as the opposite sex.

"When our children tell us who they are, it is our job as grownups to listen and to believe them," said Flanagan. "That's what it means to be a good parent."

Musk disagreed, however, writing: "Not when they're fed propaganda by adults."

This was not the first time Musk took swipes at transgenderism. In December 2022, the South African-born CEO of SpaceX and Tesla tweeted: "My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci."

Musk's tweet hit two birds with one stone. First, it called for the prosecution of infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci for his role in the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Second, it mocked the concept of "preferred pronouns" – a common practice among transgenders.

In July 2020, his tweet "pronouns suck" opened him up to a firestorm of hate. So serious was the backlash that even Musk's then-partner Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, urged him that time to stop. Later in December of that year, the Chief Twit wrote: "All these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare."

Minnesota now a transgender sanctuary state

Musk's response to Flanagan came weeks after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order (EO) making the North Star State a refuge for transgender patients and doctors providing "gender-affirming care" to them.

EO 23-03, which was signed on March 8, stated that Minnesota will become "a refuge for those who seek and provide gender-affirming health care services." The edict was among the actions taken by Walz's government to stand "in solidarity with the LGBT community."

The EO mandated all state agencies to protect parties "providing, assisting, seeking or obtaining" transgender treatments "to the fullest extent of their lawful authority." It also ordered various state departments to issue a "joint administrative bulletin" to health insurance companies regarding insurance coverage of the purportedly "medically necessary" drugs and procedures.

Moreover, the EO imposed a moratorium on aiding in any investigation that would result in doctors or parents being held liable for pursuing "gender-affirming care." It also permitted the governor to invoke a "protection against extradition," which gave Walz "discretion to decline requests for the arrest or surrender" of anyone charged with a crime linked to transgender procedures in another state.

"No state agency will comply with a subpoena issued in another state seeking information about a person or person's child who travels to this state for 'gender-affirming' health care services related to potential child protection matters or criminal charges against a parent, guardian or provider for seeking, obtaining or providing 'gender-affirming' [care]."

Musk's opposition to transgenderism is not an isolated case, however. The U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS), which previously espoused "gender-affirming care," has done a complete 180 and is now advising against it.

A report by the healthcare system warned that children who believe they are transgender are merely going through a phase. Doctors should not encourage them to adopt preferred pronouns or other names and wear clothes associated with the opposite sex. Such actions come with "significant effects" on "psychological functioning," the NHS said.

To this end, British doctors have been strictly banned from prescribing puberty blockers. The NHS has even shut down its Tavistock clinic specializing in "gender-affirming care" to hammer the dangers of transgenderism home.
