According to reports, the stars will be allowed to take off the mask whenever the cameras are rolling, which obviously constitutes a bulk of the ceremony. The minute the program goes to a commercial break, however, celebrities will supposedly have to cover their faces to keep everyone "safe."
While seated in the main show room and on camera, Hollywood's "finest" will be allowed to exist naturally without a face covering. When the cameras turn off, however, or when celebrities move between two adjacent courtyards, masks will be required as a condition of movement.
The Academy has not offered any explanation for this bizarre mask policy, which like the "keep your mask on until seated" nonsense at restaurants makes no logical or scientific sense. If there really is a deadly virus lurking underneath those masks, it will surely escape the minute they come down for a person to eat or make an appearance on camera.
The decision comes as Resident Joe Biden pleads with America to stay masked "until everyone is, in fact, vaccinated," this being a deviation from his earlier request before the inauguration that America stay masked just for the course of his first 100 days in office.
"Masks are going to play a very important role in the story of this evening," stated Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh. "I know it's not going to be like anything that's been done before, so we're leaning into that."
This writer's first thought upon hearing the news is that this could all just be a cover to make it seem like Hollywood celebrities have to abide by the same rules that the peons do. By merely claiming that all Oscar attendees have to wear a mask when the cameras are off, the Academy will limit the fallout from those who might say, hey, why are they allowed to not wear a mask and we have to?
The world will never really know if the celebrities who attend the Oscars wore a mask at all times when not on camera because there will be no video evidence to prove one way or another. Think of it as just another Hollywood acting gig, if you will.
Last month for the Grammys, producer Jesse Collins also claimed that attendees were required to wear a mask except when performing or accepting awards. The only problem is that the cameras never actually showed anyone wearing a mask, so was that actually true?
In all likelihood, this is all just a ruse to keep civil unrest at a minimum. While everyday Americans are still being told that they cannot visit loved ones in the hospital or send their children off to school, Hollywood celebrities are gallivanting around giving themselves pointless awards while claiming that Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) protocols are being followed when the cameras are off – how convenient.
"Unless the use of cameras prevents the possibility of transmission, this is self-indulgent vain elitist insanity," wrote one Breitbart News commenter. "That is if this pandemic is actually real and not a hoax."
"Because Magic. Or, the virus is so enthralled during the program that it doesn't have time to infect anyone, but doesn't pay as much attention to the commercials," wrote another. "You'd have to be in Hollywood or Academia to be dumb enough to believe something like that – it's all political theater, by stupid people."
