Well, it didn’t take long for the Black Lives Matter movement to morph into something completely anathema to the “justice” organization it claimed to be at its founding.
Now, it’s becoming the new Mafia and it may take the same racketeering laws passed in the 1970s to bring down the real Mafioso in order to get BLM off the necks of business owners in Louisville, Ky.
Last month, an armed black militia stormed the city to ‘protest’ the police killing of EMT Breonna Taylor during a no-knock raid earlier this year. The shooting was an accident, and the department is looking into it. But that’s not enough; the militia threatened to burn the city down if its ‘demands’ aren’t met by a deadline set for later this month — which includes a threat to kidnap police officers and hold them for ransom.
Now come BLM ‘social justice warriors,’ as reported by Breitbart News:
Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters issued “social justice” and “black liberation” demands regarding “diversity” to a restaurant owner in Louisville, KY, including a directive for “donations” to organizations run by non-whites.
Listed demands from a BLM affiliate in Louisville include racial quotas for staff and ownership of business suppliers, donations to organizations run by non-whites, and adjustment to dress codes. The posters used the acronym “BIPOC” (“black or indigenous persons of color”) as a euphemism for non-white persons.
The demands include: 23% of Staff is BIPOC in Front of House; 23% of inventory is from BIPOC retailer(s); Regular donations to BIPOC organization; Dress code policy does not discriminate against BIPOC patrons or employees.
Who in their right minds would agree to these demands?
But wait, as they say, there’s more. According to a letter issued by the organization, businesses are to hand over 1.5 percent of their monthly profits “to financially empower the Black Lives Matter Organization and Movement” if the owner doesn’t “have access to a sufficient poll of Black vendors” for their products (tone-deaf alert: Isn’t ‘equality’ ensuring there are enough ‘Black vendors’?).
“This initial level of representation shall be achieved by August 17, 2020, with incremental increases of 5% in each 6 month period,” the letter continues.
The letter lists “repercussions of non-compliance”:
If that isn’t shaking down a business in the very same way that the Mafia used to do it, then the Mafia never shook down any businesses (and of course, mob bosses did that all the time).
What’s next if the repercussions don’t force ‘compliance’ — horse heads in the beds of business owners? Car bombs? Drive-by machine gun runs? Sniper attacks? Sending in ‘the boys’ to ‘change the owner’s mind’ by knocking the crap out of them? Leg-breaking?
This isn’t a joke anymore; these BLM Marxist commies are serious. And it’s time that law enforcement got serious with them.
It’s one thing to demonstrate, to protest, to engage civilly with residents and community leaders to reach agreements about certain issues (that is, when there even is an issue; this ‘systemic racism’ narrative pushed by BLM is a blatant lie).
But threatening people’s businesses and shaking them down is illegal under RICO statutes, period.
Where’s Elliot Ness when we need him?
