It won’t matter to Left-wing Democrat voters but it should: This treatment of a duly-elected president is shameful, yes, but ultimately harmful to the country because if Democrats manage to have Trump thrown out of office for no reason, that sets the standard for Republicans who are sure to come after the next Democrat, and perhaps also for no reason.
Democrats and their Washington media propagandists are trying all sorts of ways to convince enough Americans that they really do need to impeach the president, that he’s really done something very wrong to disgrace his office (though he hasn’t).
One thing they are doing is using fabrication; they are literally relying on and repeating lies and phony narratives as a means of propagating Trump’s removal from office — which some of these same Democrats said, once upon a time when Bill Clinton was about to be impeached, that it’s like “reversing a national election.”
Another tactic is claiming that Trump’s use of certain language and words is, in and of itself, an impeachable offense. But of course, they’re being major hypocrites while they’re at it. (Related: Liz Cheney: Federal agents involved in ‘Spygate’ likely committed acts of ‘treason.’)
As NewsBusters notes, Katie Rogers, a New York Times reporter, recently rebuked the president over his use of the word “treason” to label his political enemies on Twitter.
Her story, “As Impeachment Inquiry Advances, President’s Language Takes a Dark Turn,” she whined:
The presidential Twitter feed still has its share of complaints about the Federal Reserve, punch-back nicknames and favorable polls from friends such as Breitbart. But now Mr. Trump also talks about the civil war that could break out if impeachment proceedings against him continue, a whistle-blower he regards as a spy and, increasingly, treason.
One, the president didn’t “talk about the civil war that could break out” if he’s impeached; he simply repeated in a tweet what someone else had said.
Two, the garbage media and Democrats have called President Trump every name in the book — racist, bigot, homophobe, Nazi, etc. So claiming that he’s the one who is using explosive language is a sick joke.
And, as NewsBusters documents, Rogers added: “The accusation is nothing new in the right-wing vocabulary -- Ann Coulter, the president’s sometimes adviser, sometimes adversary -- wrote a book on the topic. Mark S. Zaid, a Washington lawyer who represents the whistle-blower, reviewed the book in 2003, saying it contained revelations that would ‘shock anyone to the left of Attila the Hun.’”
But of course, the Left-wing media has used the very same term — treason — to describe President Trump on a number of occasions (without any mention or rebuke from Rogers, including from her own newspaper.
In March 2017, barely two months into the president’s term, NYT columnist Nicholas Kristof wrote under the headline, “There’s a Smell of Treason in the Air,” in which he cited the bogus “Russian collusion” and Spygate probe launched during Obama’s final months as ‘proof.’
Fellow NYT columnist Paul Krugman has also explicitly inferred that Trump has committed treason in a July 2017 column titled, “The New Climate of Treason.” He, too, cited the false Russian collusion narrative which was fabricated by the Obama deep state.
There are many other examples of Left-wing media hacks using the word ‘treason’ to describe the president’s actions (here, here, and here) — none of which are based on any real actions. But of course, the lying Left only counts those times when Trump uses the T-word.
Then again, when you’re talking about the activities of people who are actively plotting to remove you from office for no reason, what is a better word than treason?
