Along the way, the Chinese have been helped by Americans.
American consumers have been buying hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of Chinese products, mostly because they are cheap and easily imported.
Why? Because before President Trump came along, not a single U.S. president or Congress cared to level the trade playing field between our two countries or, at least, cared enough to put forth any effort to even attempt to get Beijing to play by the same rules our companies and manufacturers are forced to play by (hence the massive trade imbalance to China’s favor).
Meanwhile, successive American politicians — most of them Democrats — have been bought off by Chinese money and influence-peddling, beginning during the Clinton administration and continuing to the present day. In fact, it was revealed earlier this year that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) had a Chinese spy on her staff for almost two decades before the FBI finally identified him and informed her (but for some reason he was never charged).
Even former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, has been implicated in a scandal involving a Chinese government-connected bank:
The latest incident regarding China actually involves a professional sports league: the National Basketball Association (NBA). And American values. And the Constitution.
Earlier this week the owner of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, Daryl Morley, tweeted what was seemingly innocuous support for democracy protesters in Hong Kong. China, of course, was outraged by that tweet because China is run by Communist dirtbags who threaten, beat, imprison, and kill their own citizens to ‘keep them in line.’
Worse, the NBA initially sided with the Chinese, and so did far too many NBA players who expressed ‘outrage’ at Morley. Eventually, the league sorta, kinda backed free speech and backed off criticizing Morley.
But again, way too many American basketball fans and players took China’s side — they took the side of Communist dictators who kill and imprison their own people. But that’s not all.
— China is building an arsenal of weapons designed to defeat U.S. forces in battle. During the country’s National Day parade on Oct. 1, the Chinese military showcased several new weapons systems including modern nuclear-capable ICBMs and hypersonic missiles that can target every American city and destroy it within 30 minutes, all while evading existing U.S. missile defenses. In short, the Chinese are preparing, specifically, to meet and defeat the U.S. in battle.
— The Chinese target Christians in their country for organ-harvesting. As The Epoch Times reported in July 2015:
Independent Canadian investigators say they are convinced that the organs of Falun Gong practitioners in China are being harvested for profit, according to a report released July 6.
“Based on what we now know, we have come to the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true. We believe that there has been and continues today to be large scale organ seizures from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners,” concludes a much-publicized study conducted by former Canadian Secretary of State (Asia Pacific) David Kilgour and international human rights lawyer David Matas.
This barbaric practice is supported by the NBA, NBA players, and their American fans — all because the NBA ‘does business’ in China. Pathetic.
— Even the Washington Post has written about evidence indicating that China forces Muslims in the country into “reeducation camps” — a favorite Communist euphemism for “prison camps” where forced indoctrination of anti-religious propaganda using methods of torture are practiced. So has The New York Times, which reported in December 2018 that such camps are also forced-labor camps:
China’s ruling Communist Party has said in a surge of upbeat propaganda that a sprawling network of camps in the Xinjiang region is providing job training and putting detainees on production lines for their own good, offering an escape from poverty, backwardness and the temptations of radical Islam.
But mounting evidence suggests a system of forced labor is emerging from the camps, a development likely to intensify international condemnation of China’s drastic efforts to control and indoctrinate a Muslim ethnic minority population of more than 12 million in Xinjiang.
Meanwhile, Democrats and establishment RINOs continue to push back against President Trump’s efforts to force the Chinese into a better trade agreement — one that dramatically reduces American dollars flowing to China year after year and back into American pockets for a change.
Doing so will greatly reduce Beijing’s ability to use its economy to buy itself a better military and use its influence to continue undermining U.S. interests.
If the president isn’t successful, then China wins — and frankly, any American or American sports league that would rather see a murderous Communist dictatorship come out on top of their own country are guilty of treason.
