Having the right materials at the right time can certainly make a difficult situation easier to manage.

Be physically fit and active

Many preppers tend to overlook this aspect of prepping, but when SHTF, physical fitness can be one of the most important aspects of a prepper’s lifestyle. Achieving and maintaining peak physical fitness can improve the quality of your daily life, as well as improve your chances of survival during a disaster scenario. To stay physically fit and healthy, you need plenty of regular exercise, adequate sleep, and proper nutrition. Situational awareness involves conditioning your mind to be constantly aware of your surroundings. By practicing this technique, you can avoid placing yourself in a vulnerable situation. If you are unable to leave the area, then you will at least be able to react accordingly if ever SHTF.

Acquire a variety of useful skills

If you want to learn a new hobby, you can go beyond doing a simple leisurely activity, and use it as a chance to acquire a new skill. Learning a diverse set of skills can allow you to become a more well-rounded person. It can also help you avoid feeling helpless in a challenging situation. Once you have learned a new skill, be sure to practice it frequently and keep it up-to-date. You should never stop learning, because there will always be something new to learn.

Make purchasing decisions based on how useful the item will be

It might sometimes be tempting to make impulsive purchases based on something that struck your fancy at that very moment. To save on expenses, you should base your purchasing decisions on how useful or practical the item will be in the long run. If an item can serve several purposes, then it will be a good use of your money.
