If you were looking for “fair and balanced” coverage of the squads of Democratic candidates all vying for their party’s 2020 presidential nod, you’re not going to get it.
Instead, viewers of the Democrat debates will get canned, softball questions that most likely will be provided to candidates beforehand — or, at least, the candidate the party elders want to win the eventual nomination.
No tough questions about candidates’ views on, say, late-term abortion and infanticide. No questions about Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s KKK yearbook photo. No questions regarding how they feel about Minnesota voters electing an accused abuser of women as their attorney general. And certainly no questions about how they will apply their socialist ideals in practice, who will pay for all the freebies, and how they plan to make the failed economic model a success.
That’s because Tom Perez, the potty-mouthed head of the Democratic National Committee, has ruled that Fox News won’t be a “media partner” in any of the numerous debates involving his party’s presidential contenders. Yes, that’s right, the network with consistently the most prime-time viewers for the past several years will be shut out because, dang it, they’re fair to conservatives.
“I do not have the confidence that we need to take such an important part of the nomination process, these debates, and trust them to folks who, at the top levels, are consulting Donald Trump before they do anything. I couldn’t do that,” Perez told very Left-wing partisan MSNBC’s very Left-wing partisan Chris Hayes on Wednesday.
Perez cited a laughable New Yorker piece written by a rank Leftist, Jane Mayer, who accused the network of essentially infiltrating the White House and the Trump administration. “Fox News has always been partisan,” she wrote. “But has it become propaganda?”
Wow. If there is any propaganda being blasted across the land it’s coming from CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and the broadcast networks, as evidenced by one fake news story after another since Trump won the presidency. Besides, the last we checked, anyone who might be in contact with the president or his office — say, host (and friend) Sean Hannity — isn’t going to be on a panel asking debate questions. But you can bet that people who worked for Hayes’ network, CNN, and the broadcast networks, all of whom are very liberal, were in frequent contact with the Obama administration back in the day. Donna Brazile, who gave debate questions to Hillary as a CNN contributor, twice advised her husband’s presidential campaigns.
So c’mon, Tom, who are you fooling other than fellow Democrats? You told Hayes you want your candidates to be seen by as many Americans as possible “because I believe that our views, our vision, command the respect of the majority of the American people, including people who watch FOX News.” But then you concoct this conspiracy theory that whomever Fox News chooses to ask questions will be consulting with the president to justify cutting the network as a “media partner” in the debates?
Sounds suspiciously like that stuff people step in on cattle farms.
No matter, though. As usual, our president — who will be debating the eventual Democratic nominee — is unflappable. And indeed, he has already floated a solution: Just cut every network out of his debates except Fox News. Brilliant!
“Democrats just blocked @FoxNews from holding a debate. Good, then I think I’ll do the same thing with the Fake News Networks and the Radical Left Democrats in the General Election debates!” he tweeted this week.
To be fair, Fox News has not hosted a Democratic debate in several years, but now you know why: The party is afraid Americans who see its candidates for who they really are will run away from them in droves.
