In some cities, police now take FOUR DAYS to respond to a 911 call… are you armed yet?
By JD Heyes // Oct 13, 2018

The founding fathers wrote the Second Amendment into the U.S. Constitution for a myriad of ancillary reasons, but the primary purpose for recognizing that a free people can and should be armed was personal security.

Whether it be a check against a tyrannical government or self-defense, our founders knew and understood that a well-armed citizenry was far more beneficial to the maintenance of a free, prosperous, and safe society than a disarmed one. That is just as true today as it was on Dec. 5, 1791, when the first 10 of 12 amendments (the Bill of Rights) was ratified by a two-thirds majority of states.

Back in those days, another benefit of being armed was protection against nefarious elements within society: Criminals, bandits, and other ne’er-do-wells who sought to rape, burn, and plunder their way across the countryside. While the frontier has long since vanished, crime has not and, in a growing number of cities and locations across America, even today, relying solely on law enforcement to protect you is an exercise in futility.

Case in point: As reported by WXYZ in Detroit, a woman who dialed 9-1-1 after her daughter was attacked did not see police arrive at her home for four days.

The station noted that during his annual State of the City address in 2017, Mayor Mike Duggan praised the Detroit Police Department for continuing to decrease average response times for 911 calls throughout the city. “It’s a far cry from the days when 911 calls averaged 30 minutes,” he claimed to great applause.

Officers now arrive on the scene an average of 12 minutes after 911 calls are made.

Only, not all the time. One woman, whom WXYZ did not identify when she spoke to reporters on camera, said of the system, “It failed for us.” (Related: HELD HOSTAGE: Democrat leader commits to mass violence across America if Dems don’t win the mid-terms.)

The station reported:

The mother asked that we conceal her face to protect the identity of her daughter, who she says is the victim of a crime.

The trouble started on the afternoon of September 15. The mother, who we'll call Sandra, was visiting her young adult daughter on Detroit's west side when she heard screaming as she stepped out of her car.

"I run up to the door because I realized it was my daughter," she said. "She comes to the door and he's behind her, he's attacking her."

The boyfriend has been abusive to her daughter in the past, the woman said. When she arrived that day, he was pounding on her daughter with clenched fists. As she ran to the door of her daughter’s home, Sandra called 9-1-1.

When seconds counted, police were days late

That was at 1:29 p.m.

“Detroit 911, what’s the address of your emergency?” the dispatcher asked, according to recordings the station news team obtained.

“My daughter’s boyfriend was beating the [expletive] out of her,” Sandra hurriedly said before giving the address.

Though the dispatcher said she’d send a squad car right away, 40 minutes later no officers had shown up.

Sandra called in and got an automated message; she finally got a real live dispatcher again on the fourth call. She was again told that an officer would be sent.

Sandra would call three times in all but no officers came that day. Around 5 p.m, the boyfriend returned, crawled through a window in her daughter’s home, and started wailing on her again.

Four days later an officer finally showed up, WXYZ reported.

While ranking police officials said they were upset by the incident and pledged to hold people accountable, such assurances would not have mattered one iota if Sandra’s daughter had been more severely injured or even killed.

What the incident proves beyond any doubt, however, is that the very best means of protection is armed self-defense, like our founding fathers recognized.
