In hunting and in self defense, every shot counts, so we've put together a list of ten next generation optics, sights, and scopes that make all the difference when it's time to pull the trigger.
One: For close and intermediate range shooting, consider the AIM Sports Prismatic Series, a tri-illuminated 4x32mm scope with red, green, and blue mil-dot reticles. This value-priced scope comes in two versions. The first has rails on three sights of the scope and the second includes a backup fiber-optic front sight and fully adjustable rear open sight.
Two: For long range precision, consider the Bushnell Elite Tactical ERS 3.5-21x50mm scope. With this scope, the shooter can engage moving targets more quickly, thanks to the scope’s first-focal-plane G2 reticle. Sight in your target effectively, using .1-mil clicks at 10 mils per revolution.
Three: EOTech’s Vudu 3.5-18x50 mm scope takes precision shooting to a whole new level. Featuring a 34mm tube, complete with XC High-Density glass and an illuminated reticle mounted in the first focal plane, this scope allows for precision sight, quick click adjustments, and even the option of a parallax adjustment. Four: If you’re looking for a reliable red-dot sight for your AR, consider the Bushnell Enrage. The optional high rise mount is a great fit for ARs. Its 2-MOA dot reticle includes eight brightness settings and is also equipped with the company’s longest lasting battery.
Five: The red dot sight with the largest field of view is made by Hartman MH1, an Israeli-made scope that makes target acquisition fast and efficient. The 30mm tube body and waterproof design also features ambidextrous activation buttons with lockable, zero-stop target turrets.
Six: The Lucid P7 is a great option for survival combat situations. The ballistic MOA holdover reticle allows for speedy target acquisition. This light weight, rugged scope has fixed 4 x magnification; it is shockproof, waterproof and includes a built-in mount for ARs.
Seven: The NcSTAR SPD may come in handy in the bush with its solar-powered reflex sight. Also powered with a backup AA battery, this 2-MOA reticle provides five brightness levels and can quickly be released using the Picatinny/Weaver-style rail mount.
Eight: With up to four times magnification, the Nikon Black Force 1000 is a dual purpose scope for speedy both-eyes-open shooting as well as precision shooting over long distances. Nikon’s patented Speedforce reticle is made with a 30mm aircraft grade aluminum alloy tube and hard coat anodized.
Nine: Next generation optics are found in the Vortex Razor AMG UH-1, which includes a distortion free reticle pattern of a holographic sight. With 15 brightness settings, this lightweight (11.8 ounce), 3.5 inches long scope is also energy efficient and runs on either a LFP 123A or aCR123A battery.
Ten: Last but not least is the Sig Sauer TANGO6, a 1-6x42mm riflescope that can be calibrated to the caliber of your choice and adjust for environmental conditions. The custom Sig Ballistic Turret elevation dial is suited for long range shooting and speedy, close quarter target acquisition. This scope also features the HDX optical system, zero-stop turrets, and HellFire fiber optic, glass etched illuminated reticle.
