On Tuesday the ‘mainstream’ media all breathlessly reported that special counsel Robert Mueller had secured his first two “Trump-tied” convictions, after one-time Team Trump 2016 campaign manager Paul Manafort and former personal lawyer Michael Cohen agreed to plea deals for various ‘crimes.’
What they didn’t report – again – is how hypocritical and grossly unjust this entire situation really is, because as two men whose real“crime” was being associated with a president who isn’t owned and operated by the Deep State have had their lives ruined, people who committed real crimes against the American people are living and breathing free air, unmolested by a two-tiered system of justice.
According to Fox News, a federal jury in Virginia convicted Manafort on eight counts of bank and tax fraud after four days of deliberation, but a mistrial was declared on 10 additional counts that were also related to alleged financial crimes, “making him the first campaign associate of President Trump found guilty” as part of Mueller’s ‘investigation.’
Next, Cohen pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion, one count of making false statements to a financial institution, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and a single count of making an excessive campaign contribution. In addition, he told prosecutors that he violated federal campaign finance laws by “arranging hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ‘at the direction’ of then-candidate Trump,” Fox News said in a separate report.
As for the payments, Fox News reported:
Deputy U.S. Attorney Robert Khuzami told reporters that in January 2017, Cohen had sought reimbursement for the payments to both women by “submitting invoices to the candidate’s company” — believed to be the Trump Organization — that falsely indicated that Cohen had provided legal services in the year 2017.
“In fact, [Cohen] provided no legal services for the year 2017, and it was simply a means to obtain reimbursement for the unlawful campaign contribution,” Khuzami said.
Naturally, reporters pounced on the president once the verdict and plea deal was announced.
“I feel very badly for Paul Manafort,” POTUS told reporters after Air Force One landed in West Virginia for a political rally. Then he reminded the ‘crack’ journalists in tow: “It has nothing to do with Russian collusion,” adding that Mueller’s probe is a “witch hunt.”
As for Cohen, he told the House Intelligence Committee last year that POTUS had nothing to do with any suspected Russian ‘conspiracy’ to interfere with the 2016 election. So there’s that.
Once again, nothing that happened Tuesday indicates President Trump has done anything wrong or impeachable – no “collusion” proof, no evidence he “obstructed justice,” and certainly nothing at all to do with “Russia.” (Related: GOP member of House Judiciary Committee to Robert Mueller: ‘Put up or shut’ about Trump-Russia ‘collusion.’)
But do you know who – based on open-source reporting – is likely guilty of one or all of those charges?
Hillary Clinton. The Democratic National Committee. James Comey. James Clapper. John Brennan. Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS. Obama aide Valerie Jarrett. Susan Rice. Sally Yates. Bruce Ohr. Nellie Ohr. Lisa Page. Peter Strzok. Andrew McCabe.
And yet for some reason, though his original mandate was to find out if there was Russian collusion, obstruction of justice, or other nefarious behavior related to POTUS Trump and his campaign, Robert Mueller and his team of Democratic prosecutors have never gotten around to asking any of those people a single question related to his mandate. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein – oh, sorry– Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein hasn’t had to explain to anyone in Congress why Mueller is indicting a former Trump lawyer and campaign manager on wholly unrelated charges, either.
The fact that Clinton, et al are still breathing free air when she trafficked in classified information and the rest of them colluded with Russian sources to thwart Trump’s presidency is the greatest injustice in the history of our country.
And it proves without a shadow of a doubt that we now have two justice systems– one for the considered ‘elite’ and one for the rest of us.
