The increasingly insane Left wants to turn America into the next Venezuela, as first “communist” set for election win in New York City
By JD Heyes // Jun 28, 2018

She calls herself a “Democratic Socialist,” but in reality, 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a communist in disguise.

Worse, she just won a Democratic primary in New York City, unseating a 10-term Rep. Joe Crowley, who was being groomed, some say, to take over for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

In the only debate with she had with Crowley, she made it clear where she stands, politically.

“For 20 years our rents have been going up, health care has been getting more expensive and our incomes are staying the same,” she said, as reported by the New York Post.

“Not all Democrats are the same and I am proud to be the only Democrat in this race that rejects all corporate money and champions and advances improved and expanded Medicare for all, a federal jobs guarantee, tuition-free public college and the abolition of ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement],” she said.

For those who aren’t sure what “expanded Medicare for all” is, that’s universal healthcare. That’s Obamacare on steroids. That’s expensive and untenable, economically; just ask the British.

Free tuition. Free healthcare. Government jobs. Open borders. Except for that last demand, Ocasio-Cortez sounds exactly like she should have stepped out of a time machine from 1960’s China or the Soviet Union.

We know what happened to the USSR. It collapsed under its own weight because communism on a national scale is not sustainable. And why? When the state owns and runs everything, there is no motivation among the people to build a better widget or work efficiently or take pride in anything. After all, why bother? If you’re not going to be allowed to make a profit, what is the point of making something better? Or something that people want?

The Chinese communists are different in that their leaders have embraced elements of free-market capitalism. That’s how they can be authoritarians and still grow to become the world’s second-largest economy.

Time and again, socialism fails

Then there’s Venezuela. After being democratically elected the leaders of this country turned authoritarian and socialist, commandeering ‘for the people’ the wealth of national corporations and those who were productive. Once the wealth they confiscated from the producers to redistribute to the people was gone, Venezuela collapsed into an economic basket case were today, inflation stands at a mind-boggling 43,000 percent. (Related: Former Gov. Huckabee ridicules Millennials who said they favor communism, socialism in a new survey.)

43,000.

And yet New Yorkers were taken in by the same thing people all over the world are when it comes to the “promise” of communism and socialism: Free stuff.

But nothing’s ever free. Somebody has to pay for it. And those people are always a society’s most productive elements.

The Socialist Playbook is always the same — always:

— Promise everyone everything

— Confiscate the wealth of the have’s and redistribute it to the have-not's in exchange for power

— Decide, arbitrarily, how much the have’s will get to keep if anything

— Always justify taking of property and wealth as ‘compassionate’ and ‘the right thing for the people’

— As the economy tanks when all the producers are tapped out and gone, blame someone else for the collapse and claim the answer is to double down on the ‘compassion’

As noted by Roger Simon at PJ Media:

How many times do we have to learn that socialism doesn't work, that, as Margaret Thatcher said, at some point you run out of "other people's money," that sooner or later all the teary idealism, the stirring strains of The Internationale, devolve into gulags and death squads? Wasn't the Soviet Union enough, Communist China, Cambodia, North Korea, Cuba, etc....?

The one good thing about this is that as communism-lite spreads like a cancer through the Democratic Party, votes and allegiances will become divided. That should help Republicans and, by default, the country.

There is nothing “democratic” about socialism. And socialism cannot co-exist with liberty in a constitutional republic.
