Cowardly corporations cave to the Marxist Left and end discounts for NRA members, but what happens next is pure gold

Following the recent horrific shooting and mass murder at a Parkland, Fla., school, several corporations jumped on the Left’s bandwagon in blaming the least responsible organization for the deadly melee by accused killer Nikolas Cruz.

The National Rifle Association.

Yes, the NRA.

Not the Broward County Sheriff’s Department for the failure of four deputies to enter the school, guns drawn, during the shooting — to serve the community and protect the students.

Not the sheriff’s department or other local police who’d been called to the home were Cruz lived dozens of times for violence and disturbances.

Not the “mental health infrastructure” that no one — from the cops to the school Cruz attacked — failed to utilize as an intervention tool.

Not the FBI which twice failed to act on very specific tips that Cruz was a threat and a danger.

Not the students themselves who were all very familiar with Cruz and his antics.

No. The NRA. The corporations want to blame the NRA. (Related: Liberals want to raise the rifle purchase age to 21, but what’s the “appropriate” age for privacy, speech, and abortion rights?)

As if the nation’s oldest civil rights organization, through its advocacy for the Second Amendment, sent a representative into the school to shoot and kill 17 people. As if the NRA actually sold the weapon that Cruz (legally) purchased to carry out his terrible crime.

Who are these cowards? The Western Journal noted that Delta Airlines, MetLife, United Airlines, Hertz and First National Bank began the effort to “end discounts programs, NRA-related credit cards or any other program that might have supported the group.”

Others have since jumped on the bandwagon of political cowardice. They include movers Allied Van Lines and North American Van Lines; car rental companies Avis, Alamo, Enterprise and National; health company Starkey Hearing Technologies; insurer Chubb; security firm SimpliSafe; and cybersecurity firm Symantec.

I expect there will be others; when it comes to jumping on the Left-wing bandwagon, many U.S. corporations are only too happy to do so.

Naturally, the NRA is outraged — and rightfully so.

“The law-abiding members of the NRA had nothing at all to do with the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement,” the NRA’s statement read.

“Despite that, some corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice,” the statement added. “In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms are characteristics of a marketplace they very much want to serve.”

None of what these corporations are doing makes any sense unless, of course, you understand that Democrats and the American Pravda media depend on incidents like school shootings so they can push their control agenda and do as much harm as possible to the NRA, exactly as they’ve done with this latest incident.

And yet, the effort to bully the organization is having just the opposite effect.

As The Blaze noted, in response to the childish and cowardly boycotts, “thousands of people are posting on social media they decided to join the NRA because they believe in freedom, the Second Amendment and stand opposed to the liberal outrage mob unfairly placing responsibility on the NRA for the Florida shooting.” (Full disclosure: I’m one of them who just joined.)

Others said they have upgraded their memberships to higher levels.

Boom.
