Left-wing political action committees outspent the NRA during the 2016 to elect Marxist Democrats — it wasn’t even close

Since the latest, tragic and deadly school shooting in Parkland, Fla., Marxist Democrats have ramped up their outrage machine to rage against the National Rifle Association, as if the pro-Second Amendment group sent one of its own members to pull the trigger.

At a completely staged, scripted “town hall” event hosted by fake news CNN on Wednesday, hand-picked audience members lined up to ambush NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch and criticize her organization.

They also launched broadsides against Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., for his refusal to stop accepting donations from the gun-rights group.

“Senator Rubio, can you tell me right now that you will not accept a single donation from the NRA in the future?” Cameron Kasky, a junior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, asked Rubio.

The senator tried to explain that he supported the Second Amendment as well as laws that would help prevent students from being targeted at school by deranged killers (especially those suspects well-known to the FBI and local law enforcement).

The student was having none of it. “Wait, hold on,” Kasky responded. “So, right now in the name of 17 people, you cannot ask the NRA to keep their money out of your campaign?”

And so on. (Related: Left-wing media LIES: No, the NRA did not “train” the Florida school shooter)

That’s the new, old narrative from the Left, as is always the case after one of these horrific incidents: It’s the NRA’s fault with all their blood money to Republican candidates! (And some Democrats, too!)

But the fact is — and the Left, aided and abetted by the American Pravda media, don’t care about facts — the NRA is a bit player in the Washington vote-buying game. The gun-rights group plays a distant second fiddle to a host of far-Left groups that overwhelmingly support Democrats in their bid to strip away as many of our rights and freedoms as possible.

As Lifezette reported, liberal PACs gave in excess of $393 million in independent campaign contributions to Democrats during the 2016 election cycle, “an amount that collectively was seven times more than reported by the NRA.”

Seven times more.

The site reported further:

Even the average for the four liberal groups — $98.25 million – exceeded the $54.4 million total spent by the gun rights group, according to an examination of Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign funding data compiled by opensecrets.org.

This isn’t just an outlier website reporting this fact.

Jonah Goldberg, writing at the New York Post in the wake of the monstrous Las Vegas shootings earlier this year, pointed out the hypocrisy of the Pravda media complaining about roughly $3.5 million in NRA contributions to Republican lawmakers since 1998 while ignoring how much liberal groups have given to Democrats.

Goldberg did the research:

According to Opensecrets.org, the legal profession contributed $207 million to politicians in 2016 alone. Fahr LLC, the outfit that oversees the political and philanthropic efforts of billionaire anti-global-warming activist Ton Steyer, gave $90 million (all to Democrats) in 2016.

According to OpenSecrets, the NRA spent $1.1 million on contributions in 2016 and $3 million on lobbying. The food and beverage industry has spent $14 million on lobbying in 2017 alone. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, spent $9 million on contributions in 2016.

Goldberg has much more but you get the point.

The fact is the attacks on the NRA and complaints about “how much money” it spends on the political system are a smokescreen. The Left doesn’t want to talk about how much money Democrat-leaning groups spend because that’s the not the issue.

The agenda is taking down the NRA and, eventually, the Second Amendment — not solving the school shooting epidemic.

It’s important to put out the truth nonetheless, however, so rational Americans have all the facts and can make informed decisions about policy.

That’s very un-CNN-like, but some people seem to like us for it.
