During the opening segment of his namesake Fox News program on Thursday, Tucker Carlson did the country a massive public service that, frankly, should have been done years ago by our public servants: Reported the fact that illegal alien crime is far worse than you’ve been told.
Beginning by recounting the typical Democratic talking points about all illegal immigrants — they’re ‘hard-working’ people doing jobs you hate and doing them “cheerfully” and honorably — Carlson then noted that liberals always conclude with this point: “Undocumented immigrants actually commit fewer crimes on average than native-born Americans.
“Not only are immigrants more virtuous than you,” he continued, “they’re safer to be around. In other words, stop complaining, they’re your superiors.”
But is all that really true, he then asked rhetorically?
Uh, not by a long shot. After all, he pointed out, if illegal aliens are willing to break U.S. immigration laws, it only figures they’d be more willing to break additional laws.
According to U.S. government data — that’s an important point to make because it’s federal data, untainted by political ideology or perspective — illegal immigrants commit far more crimes, violent and otherwise, than native-born Americans, and by massive percentages.
“According to statistics from the U.S. Sentencing Commission, non-citizens are actually far more likely to commit serious crimes than Americans are,” said Carlson.
For example, he said, “Non-citizens account for 22 percent, more than a fifth of all federal murder convictions.” Also, they account for “18 percent of fraud convictions” and “33 percent of money laundering convictions,” added Carlson.
Illegal aliens are also responsible for “29 percent of drug trafficking convictions and 72 percent of convictions for drug possession.”
“Meanwhile, the non-citizen percentage of the American people? About 7 percent,” he added.
Those are quite different percentages than what you’ve probably assumed to be true, just based on what you’ve heard but never actually been told. As Carlson said, the stats he reported have not been seen before. (Related: ICE chief compares Trump to previous 6 presidents, much to Mexico’s angst.)
“Our government pretty much tracks every trend and every phenomenon you can think of,” he said, but for some reason, no one seemed to know the stats above that he reported.
“Why have so many people been lying to us for so long? That’s a question we plan to ask a whole bunch of people,” Carlson added.
Conservative author, talk host and columnist Mark Steyn thinks he knows why.
“These statistics, which for political correctness reasons we were prevented from knowing in recent years, show that this country is, in effect, importing a criminal class,” Steyn told Carlson. “And it does not check any aspect of the criminal class it imports.”
Here’s another stat: Government data show that 94 percent of the 37,557 confirmed immigrants currently in federal custody are in the country illegally.

Steyn also noted that there is — or there was before Donald J. Trump won last year’s presidential race — a huge double standard being applied to Americans and illegal aliens, and all for political reasons.
“Law-abiding people have to dot every ‘i’ and cross every ‘t,’” Steyn said. “And every single day we import drug gangs, money launderers, murders, drunk drivers because the professional lobby group your previous guest represented somehow thinks this is in the interest of the United States. It’s not at all.”
He then referenced House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s thinking that “we ought to thank the parents of the dreamers for bringing them here because they’re better than us.” If you listen to Pelosi and other Democrats, he continued, “every single Dreamer is a high school valedictorian just wrapping up his third tour of Afghanistan — they’re way better than us.”
“Why does any country need to import a criminal class?” Steyn asked. “Americans are happy to murder, and rape and sell drugs to each other. You don’t need to import other people to do that.”
This is why we need Trump’s wall.
