Its truly astonishing how little the liberals know about firearms and the Second Amendment, despite the fact that they always seem to assert themselves as experts on the matter.
In a recent NBC article that focused on the handmade semi-automatic rifles that were used in a California shooting earlier this week, authors Andrew Blankstein and Corky Siemaszko proved just how little they know about firearms when in the very first paragraph they write “multi-round magazine,” which obviously is redundant and doesn’t make any sense. But sadly, the embarrassing and inaccurate statements didn’t stop there; in fact, it got much, much worse.
Blankstein and Siemaszko then incorrectly claim that a “legal loophole” allows people to own illegal firearms so long as they are made at home. Citing an “expert” on the matter, they explain that the gunman “apparently exploited a legal loophole that enabled him to get around California’s tough gun laws by ordering the parts for a weapon that is illegal in that state — and putting it together at home.” However, the so-called “expert” that they cite, Rick Vasquez of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, immediately contradicts the writers’ own claim, explaining that residents of California can only make guns that are not restricted by the state.
Next, Blankstein and Siemaszko write that residents who create their own firearms are not required to put a serial number on it, despite the fact that the state of California already has a law in the books that says the exact opposite.
The writers claim that “despite being out of [sic] bail for stabbing a neighbor in January, the 44-year-old shooter was not barred from owning a weapon, Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said on Wednesday.” As you probably could have guessed, this statement was blatantly false as well. In fact, according to the Associated Press, the judge who ruled in the stabbing case did issue a protective order that barred the shooter from purchasing and owning firearms.
Finally, the authors of this disastrous article claim that the shooter “also owned two handguns,” even though it has already been established by Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston that the shooter’s handguns belonged to other people, making it illegal for him to have them in his possession.
If it seems to you as though this article was written by two people who literally didn’t do any research whatsoever and instead were just concerned about advancing the left’s gun control agenda, that’s because it absolutely was. This is just about as far away from traditional journalism as you can possibly get. Instead of facts and accurate statements, this article was built on lies, fabrications, and a powerful urge to generate as much fear about firearms in America as humanly possible. If nothing else, this shows why it is so important that you rely on independent media or even just common sense rather than the fake news mainstream media. (Related: Leftists are lying about gun control by failing to mention that the vast majority of gun deaths in America are suicides.)
Liberals really are clueless when it comes to firearms and the Second Amendment. Just days ago, Fox News host Tucker Carlson engaged New York City Council member Jumaane Williams in a debate over a recent proposal from the left to ban muzzleloaders. Tucker’s main point was that muzzleloaders will most likely never be used in a mass shooting since they take about a minute to load, so banning them doesn’t make any sense. Of course, Williams had no counter argument, other than that he is just trying to “save lives.”
While they are rather unintelligent and misinformed on the issue of firearms, the liberals are resolute in their quest to do away with the Second Amendment altogether. As conservatives and liberty-loving Americans, we cannot allow that to happen. (Follow more gun news at Guns.news.)
