When it comes the Leftist and Democrats, they have no hypocrisy gene so attempting to shame them by showing them their disgusting irony never works to convince them of the error of their ways.
And it’s not going to work with illegal immigration, either, but facts are facts and reporters like me are supposed to present them to you, so here goes.
Fact: The Mexican government treats illegal immigrants of any age far worse than America does, and yes, that also includes the America under President Donald J. Trump.
At present angry Leftists (one in the same) are upset that Trump has kept a major campaign promise in deciding to overturn President Obama’s very illegal, very unconstitutional DACA — Delayed Action on Childhood Arrivals — program, which essentially rewrote immigration laws. Since Congress writes laws and presidents either sign them or veto them, what Obama did, plain and simple, was improper. Even he knew that. (Related: With DACA down, Trump should target THESE Obama power grabs next.)
Granted, Trump has given the GOP-controlled Congress six full months to essentially replace Obama’s directive with legislation that accomplishes the same thing, and Trump has indicated he would sign it. Not bad for a party and a president who both have a bad rap for “hating immigrants” and who are “racists” and “bigots.”
Which brings me to Mexico and its treatment of people who enter that country illegally. As noted by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin, Mexico’s policies towards illegal immigrants “are discriminatory, corrupt, and abusive.”
As she noted in a 2010 column:
Mexican president Felipe Calderón* has accused Arizona of opening the door “to intolerance, hate, discrimination, and abuse in law enforcement.” But Arizona has nothing on Mexico when it comes to cracking down on illegal aliens. While open-borders activists decry the new enforcement measures signed into law in “Nazi-zona” last week, they remain deaf, dumb, or willfully blind to the unapologetically restrictionist policies of our neighbors to the south.
*Calderón is no longer president, Enrique Pena Nieto is.
Malkin makes these key points:
— The Mexican government bans foreigners if they disrupt “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” Wow — that’s like legally ensconced racial profiling and institutionalized bigotry.
— Outsiders must be able to enhance Mexico’s “economic or national interests,” and they must “be found to be physically and mentally healthy,” lest they not be welcomed in with open arms.
— Anyone who shows “contempt against national sovereignty or security” will also be excluded. That sounds an awful lot like the reasons Trump gave for banning travel to the U.S. from six terrorism-infested countries.
— If you want to get into Mexico you have to show your birth certificate and a bank statement proving your ability to take care of yourself, pass an exam, and (wait for it) prove you can provide for your own health care.
Racists!
Now for the meaty stuff. If you’re caught sneaking into Mexico, well, that’s a felony punishable by up to two years in prison. Oh, and you will have a fine to pay as well, and if you re-enter illegally, you will be jailed for a decade.
And while illegal aliens in our country are afforded every legal aid and assistance there is, free of charge, you can’t get that in Mexico. No, south of the border you can be kicked out of the country at any time, and without due process or access to a Mexican court.
Law enforcement officials on all levels in Mexico must also cooperate with federal immigration authorities, period. There is no “sanctuary city” BS. In fact, the Mexican army also assists with immigration operations, and native-born Mexican citizens can make arrests of illegal aliens.
So yeah, Mexico’s serious about keeping illegal immigrants out. Maybe that’s why, as Breitbart News notes, Mexico deports more people back to their Central American homes than the U.S. does.
