California moves to grant immunity to rapists, child traffickers and weapons smugglers as part of new “Sanctuary State” insanity

There are now more than 3 million illegal aliens living in the state of California (mostly from Mexico and Central America) , and Leftist legislators there want to keep it that way. In direct defiance of the directives issued by the Trump administration to address the illegal immigration problem, a cohort of legislators in Sacramento has introduced a new bill that would effectively bar U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from doing their jobs in arresting and deporting illegal immigrants, many of whom are a direct threat to American citizens.

Known as Senate Bill 54, the legislation would make it so that local and state police would be prohibited from working with ICE to enforce federal immigration law. ICE agents would no longer be allowed to enter jails and prisons to deport convicted criminals who are illegal aliens, for instance. ICE would also have very restricted access to state databases on illegal aliens under the bill’s provisions.

It’s all part of a coordinated effort by Leftist legislators in California to keep the Golden State a so-called “sanctuary state,” meaning it will continue to welcome illegal immigrants with open arms and offer them protection and benefits – really anything that legal citizens living in California are afforded. It’s a policy that’s been in place for years, though unofficially. But now that President Trump is starting to crack down on sanctuary cities all across the country, some in California want to solidify the state’s position on the matter. “During the Trump administration, the first 100 days, arrests of undocumented immigrants with no criminal record has jumped to 150% during the same period as last year,” stated Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon, a Democrat from Los Angeles, as quoted by CBS Sacramento. De Leon is spearheading the passage of SB 54, which has already received glowing approval from the Assembly Judiciary Committee.

“We will protect those who contribute to making California the sixth largest economy in the world,” he added.

SB 54 will protect criminal illegals from deportation, warns California senator

While De Leon contends that his bill will still allow authorities to respond to ICE inquiries as they pertain to convicted violent offenders, some of his colleagues disagree. Senator Jeff Stone, a Republican from Temecula (near San Diego), recently stated on Fox & Friends that SB 54 will actually protect illegal aliens who have been convicted of human trafficking, child abuse, or assault with a deadly weapon from deportation. If solidified into law, this policy will put millions of legal Californians at risk. “Basically we are going to be putting these dangerous criminals back into our streets and neighborhoods,” Sen. Stone stated.

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, a Vietnam veteran, agrees. He’s already calling on his county’s Board of Supervisors to pass a resolution that would declare Kern a “law and order” county, signifying its stance to work with, rather than against, the president on enforcing federal immigration laws.

“Sheriff’s deputies don’t enforce immigration laws and we don’t go on federal immigration sweeps,” he told The LA Times. “But we do have to allow our federal partners to do their job.”

Back in April, Sen. Stone wasted no time cutting to the chase in condemning California legislators who support SB 54. He told them that by passing the bill, they would effectively be “kicking the president right in the groin.” He added that, knowing how the President typically responds to such assaults, “I can imagine he’s going to strike back.”
