Will a sex robot brothel be opening in the UK soon?

If you’ve got an itch you can’t scratch, then maybe a trip to the U.K. is in order. A “sex robot brothel” could be opening up on British shores in the near future. LumiDolls, Spain’s premier sex doll agency, has confirmed that it is currently looking for an investor in the U.K. to help finance their expansion efforts, reports IFLScience.com.

The company garnered worldwide attention when it opened its first venue in a flat in Barcelona’s Gothic quarter. Customers could pay £67 for a half-hour session or £83 for an hour-long session — or around $86.47 and $107.13 respectively — with any of the four silicone dolls. Made from thermoplastic elastomer, each of the unique dolls can be dressed up to an individual customer’s liking. Furthermore, the company has emphasized that all of their dolls come with three orifices, and follows this up with: “Remember that you must use the single-use lubricant that you will find in each of the rooms.” On the issue of hygiene, the company has guaranteed the cleanliness of their dolls, stating on their FAQ page that: “Our LumiDolls are properly disinfected with special antibacterial soaps before and after every service.”

If these weren’t enough, the biggest selling point for the LumiDolls enterprise is that their dolls allow customers to satisfy their wildest and most intimate fantasies. As the “perfect submissives”, the dolls are flexible to be taken in any position and turned into the recipient of any act that customers otherwise wouldn’t dare perform on a real woman. “They are completely realistic dolls, both in the movement of their joints and to the touch, that will allow you to fulfill your fantasies without any limits. These SexDolls [sic] will make the experience more pleasurable, exciting and erotic,” boasts the company. The company has since been forced to close down after receiving backlash from multiple entities. The torrent of outrage sparked on social media caused the building owner to cancel the rental agreement. Even Barcelona’s police force became involved after the legality of the business was questioned, although when they investigated the site they found that it had already closed. The furor coming from the Spanish city’s prostitutes also had a hand in the bordello’s eventual shut down.

Of their first establishment, at least. According to RT.com, the enterprise has simply changed their venue and continues to operate from a secret location. “We have simply moved to new premises,” a LumiDolls receptionist has said.

Is the UK going to host a sex robot brothel soon? It’s still all up in the air. Though what is certain is that the very existence of a sex robot brothel is a sign of the times. In the United States, there already exists a company whose sole purpose is to manufacture “the world’s finest love dolls.”

Realdoll offers both male and female robot dolls to fulfill a wide array of needs. Currently, the company plans on imbuing their dolls with artificial intelligence to give them a voice and the capacity to simulate mutual affection. In a statement to MidnightPulp.com, Realdoll CEO, Matt McMullen has stated: “Many of our clients rely on their imaginations to a great degree to impose imagined personalities on their dolls. With the Harmony AI, they will be able to actually create these personalities instead of having to imagine them.”

From human-like automation you can get intimate with to artificial intelligence that can return your feelings, the world of robotics is expanding into strange, strange directions. Feel free to visit Robotics.news to read up on more robot-related media.
