‘Draining the swamp’ – Trump campaign keeping ALL lobbyists off transition team

(BigGovernment.news) Goodness, how refreshing it is to see someone actually keep a campaign promise.

Okay, it’s early and President-elect Donald Trump has not even been sworn in yet, but already he’s working to make good on his pledge to “drain the swamp” – that is, root out the endemic corruption of Washington, D.C.

His vice president-elect, Mike Pence – who has a lot of experience the nation’s capital from his days as a congressman and who knows how the system works – says there will be no lobbyists on the Trump/Pence Transition Team.

Per Breitbart News:

Vice President-elect Mike Pence has banished all lobbyists from Donald Trump’s transition team, reassuring critics who question the president-elect’s promise to “drain the swamp” of Washington, D.C.

“[W]e’re not going to have any lobbyists involved with the transition efforts,” Trump spokesman Jason Miller explained to reporters at Trump Tower on Wednesday, in response to a report from the Wall Street Journal that one of Pence’s first acts as the head of the transition team was to banish all lobbyists.

“When we talk about draining the swamp, this is one of the first steps,” Miller said.

Pence took over the job of managing the transition from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), which was staffed with “a litany of lobbyists”, according to a report from Fox News.

“I think folks will be reassured that that campaign promise is going to be fulfilled,” Miller added.

And encouraged. This was a big promise.

As for Trump, he said in a recent “60 Minutes” interview that D.C. is full of lobbyists, and that eventually he may need a couple in his administration. That makes sense; it takes a lobbyist to look out for a lobbyist.

Trump promised to “drain the swamp” of the federal government during his campaign, vowing to institute a five year ban on White House and Congressional officials from becoming lobbyists after leaving government service. Here’s hoping that he’ll get that accomplished.
