Chelsea Clinton insinuates that cannabis kills

Politicians, and their kids, should really stick to subjects they know something about.  For example, how to fool the American people, what propaganda works best to create a nation of sheep and creative ways to separate We the People from our money.  They should know better than to meddle with subjects they have no experience with.  In other words, cannabis non-experts like Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former president Bill Clinton and current Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, should not make observations about marijuana that she cannot substantiate and which are completely, demonstrably and provably false.

As noted by Marijuana.com, the former first daughter has indeed acknowledged that cannabis has medicinal value, but she said she believes it can lead to death.  “Anecdotally we have lots of evidence in…epilepsy but also in autism, in stimulating appetite for people who are on intensive chemotherapy regimens, for people who have non-epilepsy seizure disorders and challenges,” she said recently.  Then she added: “But we also have anecdotal evidence now from Colorado where some of the people who were taking marijuana for those purposes, the coroner believes, after they died, there was drug interactions with other things they were taking.”

The former first daughter was responding to a question about her Democratic presidential nominee mother’s position on rescheduling pot during an appearance before students at Youngstown State University in Ohio.  Marijuana.com said that Mrs. Clinton’s campaign did not respond to a request for clarification about what her daughter said or to what Chelsea Clinton was implying by hinting that pot use has been the cause of deaths, perhaps in its interaction with other drugs.

It’s a dubious connection, at best.

Opponents of legalization have been trying to blame a few deaths in Colorado on cannabis edibles, but in those cases, including one in which a college student visiting from Wyoming jumped off a balcony and another in which a man shot and killed his wife, there were no other drugs involved, therefore no “interactions” can be gauged or estimated.

In addition, these cases don’t take into account the fact that marijuana use has been occurring for decades, medically and otherwise, but only now there are concerns about marijuana killing people after several states have decided to defy federal law and “legalize” pot, per the will of the people.

That said, in other remarks made at separate events, Chelsea Clinton repeated her mother’s earlier promise to respect the right of states to make their own pot laws without threat of interference from the federal government. Then again, in order for the rule of law to be respected, what both presidential nominees should pledge is to push Congress for legislation that decriminalizes pot altogether (or force the DEA to change its Schedule I classification).

“She supports states making whatever choices they think are right vis-a-vis medical or recreational marijuana use,” Chelsea said.

Though candidate Clinton claims she is “100 percent in favor of medical uses for marijuana,” Chelsea Clinton gave the impression that her mother would rather cannabis be regulated via the Food and Drug Administration approval process, which she says is the “gold standard for the world” though the agency has, in the past, approved drugs that have proven to be extremely deadly and dangerous.
