We have good news for beer drinkers and cannabis smokers alike. Two of America’s favorite pastimes are soon to make their long-awaited (official and legal) collaboration as a Colorado brewery has been approved to begin brewing cannabis beer. What a time to be alive!
Colorado-based brewery Dad & Dudes Breweria has received approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to produced cannabis-infused beer, which will soon be sold in Washington, Oregon, California, and Alaska, with other states potentially following.
Aptly titled General Washington’s Secret Stash, the beer is a tribute to, as the brewery puts it, the country’s “most famous cannabis-growing rebel leader.” They certainly don’t pull punches when it comes to America’s history of supporting cannabis, hemp and marijuana. If you believed the mainstream media, you would never guess that our Founding Fathers would ever support an “evil drug” like cannabis, but in reality, they harvested hemp on a regular basis. Thomas Jefferson, one of the most iconic politicians in American history, was a huge supporter of it as well.
Dad & Dudes Breweria receiving this approval is extremely notable for many reasons. While it isn’t necessarily a game-changer in regards to marijuana legalization across the United States, it definitely shows that the federal government is slowly loosening their reigns on cannabis production. Whether this is due to a change of heart or fearing of rebellion across the country is unknown at this time, but there’s no denying that they’re slowly — very slowly — walking back their previous statements that marijuana is some life-ending health hazard that will destroy our society as we know it.
If you’ve done any substantial research on the topic, you should be well aware that not only is marijuana not harmful, it’s actually extremely healthy in a number of ways. Numerous experts have proven that cannabis cures illnesses of all sorts and helps to lead a generally healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, it’s simply none of the government’s business what any of us are doing with cannabis. If we want to grow it, smoke it, burn it or brew it, that’s really our prerogative and they should stay out of it.
Of course, asking the federal government to stay out of your business is often an incredibly pointless action to take, but it is clear through this whole fiasco that they are finally hearing the voices of the American people when it comes to marijuana legalization. Now isn’t the time to let up. Now is the time to be louder and more ferocious than ever.
We truly can change the poor state of affairs if we remain tenacious.
