It’s no secret that housing in San Francisco remains outrageously expensive, but if one recent Craigslist ad is to be taken seriously, it seems that the situation could be reaching a new low.
A pair of self-described 20-something start-up guys placed an ad offering up their crawlspace for the bargain price of $500 per month. They concede that the floor is uneven, but they note that they will help level it off and provide some carpet scraps to cover it.
What amenities does this prime piece of real estate offer? It turns out that an extension cord can be run to the crawlspace for tenants who would like to use a light or a space heater, and the space is big enough to accommodate a mattress and a nightstand, although the size of these items is not specified. Although it can’t fit a dresser, the landlords will let you keep one in their garage.
The lucky new tenant will have access to the landlords’ bathroom and kitchen, so interested parties cannot be slobs, and they’ll also have to attend an open house to see if they would be a good fit with those who already live there. They’d prefer someone who works in tech, but they say it’s not a deal-breaker, so act now before this choice property is rented out to someone else!
