Looking back on what America once was: A nation admired for its freedom and prosperity

Looking back, it’s fascinating to see how a country whose citizens blindly follow their government was essentially founded on the idea that governments are dangerous entities. How far we’ve deviated from our origin, when many consider it inappropriate to question the feds.

In the late 1700s, when the Home of the Brave became the Land of the Free, the American people were all too familiar with the dangerous nature of a powerful government. America was still in its infancy, but while the government was weak, the people were strong.

According to an article by Jacob G. Hornberger of Ron Paul Liberty Report, America’s weak federal government is directly responsible for the country becoming the freest nation in the world. All of the prosperity America achieved from that moment forward was a direct cause of having a government that lacked substantial power. He writes, “With Americans free to keep everything they earned, capital came into existence in unbelievable amounts, which caused the standard of living of the American people to skyrocket.”

This perfectly correlates with the fact that now that our government is stronger than it has ever been, the American people are not flourishing. The economy is in shambles, and has been for years, but our government continues to force taxpayers to pay for things they don’t want or need. Whenever someone stands up to this form of tyranny, they are dismissed as radicals – or worse – terrorists.

As Alex Jones of Infowars loves to say, “The answer to 1984 is 1776,” and if we as American citizens want to put an end to the injustices that we are actively experiencing at the hands of the corrupt United States government, we must look back to the beginning – when the government feared the people, but the people did not fear the government. This country can once again become the beacon of freedom that it once was. It just needs its citizens to do their part.
