NC High School students forced to complete assignment praising Muslims over Christians and demonizing ‘imperialistic’ Western countries

Parents of children enrolled in a North Carolina school were outraged after discovering they were subjected to what can only be described as a politically correct anti-Christian assignment that praises militant Islam.

As reported by the Washington Times, the mother – who asked to remain anonymous – turned to the media to express anger over a work sheet distributed at a Union County high school where her son attends that suggests Muslims have stronger religious beliefs than Christians.

The mother showed local WJYZ-TV the work sheet, adding that the one sentence that bothered her most on the fill-in-the-blank work sheet read: “Most Muslim’s faith is stronger than the average Christian.

A PDF copy of the work sheet is located online here.

Another example from the work sheet read: “Islam, at heart, is a peaceful religion.”

The Blaze first reported the work sheet, citing the local TV station report.

School officials at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, which is in Union County, have not disputed the work sheet’s answers and content. The Blaze noted that the student scored 100 percent on his assignment, so the answers provided on the work sheet are obviously correct.

‘Let’s do it right’

The mother told WJZY that she telephoned the school to see if they similarly teach Christianity in a favorable light, but said she really received no definitive answer from school officials about how they present and teach Christianity. In addition, she said her son told her that students merely “skimmed Christianity in class.”

“If you’re gonna do it, let’s do it right. I really feel like there’s a spin on this,” she told the station.

The local station contacted the school to seek a complete and correct version of the work sheet but as of press time, the school had not responded. However, the station received a statement from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to the station.

“The State Board of Education (SBE) adopts the NC Standard Course of Study – what students should know and be able to do at the end of a grade or course. The SBE does not dictate what curriculum and/or instructional materials should be used to teach the standards. Those are local school district decisions,” the department told WJZY.

When caught by the station, a school spokesperson said the principal indicated that students would be studying Christianity more in depth and that the student in question filled in the blanks on the work sheet by himself.

The Daily Signal reported that a ninth-grade teacher assigned the work sheet.

The DS went onto report that the North Carolina incident is the second one in just a few weeks involving a parent who expressed outrage regarding a child’s Islamic-related assignment in school.

‘We can’t teach Christianity but we can force-feed them Islam’

In October, a U.S. Marine and war veteran from the Iraq conflict was banned from his daughter’s high school after he objected to homework she received regarding Islam. The father, Kevin Wood, father of an 11th grade student at La Plata High School in Charles County, Maryland, grew upset after learning that one of his daughter’s teachers asked her to write a three-page essay involving Islam’s Five Pillars, its prophet Mohammed, and Mecca.

“I don’t agree with it,” he told Fox News. “I said you can’t study God or Christianity in school; you have atheists suing schools for saying God and the Pledge [of Allegiance], and not being able to say prayers before football games … but we can force-feed our kids Islam.”

The school nakedly defended its actions.

“We’re not teaching religion, we’re teaching world history,” school spokesperson Katie O’Malley-Simpson said, according to Fox News. She added that Wood threatened to cause a disruption at the school – so now, standing up for your kids is banned at government schools as well, apparently.

Wood told Fox News he was attempting to work something out with the school but if they could not, his daughter would merely take an “F” for the assignment.
