Jobs available in the marijuana industry

Cannabis-Drug-Marijuana-Plant

Medical marijuana is legal in 23 states in the USA, and legal for recreational use in 4 states. Of course, legalization has meant increased tax revenues that have been generated for local governments, which has been a big “selling point” when it comes to legalizing the plant. By making marijuana legal, however, many people now have access to jobs opportunities and entrepreneurial opportunities that are not only restricted to the medical marijuana industry. Even growing marijuana at home for personal use and perhaps friends means one can make a little money on the side.

Jobs and career opportunities in the marijuana sector

In the fast-moving, fast-evolving world of marijuana cultivation and consumption, new jobs are becoming available by the day, with potentially many more to come. With the economic pressure that many people are experiencing these days, the following opportunities may provide a solution for cash-strapped individuals.

Farming marijuana: Growing and selling marijuana can be profitable. Legalization has meant, however, that many people are finding that it is harder to sell their products because of the increased competition in the market. The best idea would be to grow a consistently high quality strain of marijuana, a niche product. Start by selling to a few, local clients, make sure your service is first rate and grow your business from there. Large scale marijuana farming can be expensive, very hard work and may mean your investment may come to nothing due to increased competition, particularly in states such as Oregon where marijuana cultivation has become big business and there appears to be a glut on the market.

Creating edibles: Creating food products infused with marijuana. This can be the perfect home-based job. Coffee, home-made bread, cookies, sugar-free candies, baked goods and other health foods can mean a creative and lucrative business. However, ingredients and levels of THC has to be carefully and accurately labelled.

Regular job opportunities in the marijuana world: For those who are not entrepreneurs and prefer to have the stability of a paid job, opportunities abound in the industry. Job openings advertised include work for advertising executives, administrators, trimmers, store managers, doctors, extractors, online sales assistants, account executives, delivery drivers, marijuana growers, warehouse staff, sales reps, graphic designers, production managers and more. Job openings advertised on the web include freelance, full-time and part-time opportunities.

As marijuana legalization gains momentum all over the world, cultivation and the creation of exciting products that are healthy and safe will mean expansion in what is becoming a lucrative job market.
