Looking for relief from chronic pain? Whole body vibration therapy may be the answer

Pain is something nobody wants to experience, but a recent study indicated that 1.5 billion people worldwide suffer from chronic pain. Chronic pain is different from acute pain, because it can persist for weeks, months, or even years.

During this time your body is sending pain signals to your nervous system that can wear down your ability to function, making physical activity extremely difficult.

Chronic pain can originate in many different ways, but the most common is from a specific situation or condition such as a low back injury or a surgery, or from chronic illness, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, or diabetes.

While there are many different ways that medical professionals recommend people treat and find relief from chronic pain, one of the ways gaining scientific prominence is whole body vibration therapy (WBV).

These machines provide users with a way to relieve musculoskeletal pain, which often contributes to conditions like low back pain. When the chronic pain is structural in nature, it requires a solution beyond just pain medication to treat it effectively.

Whole body vibration machines can provide users with the tools to address some of the most common causes of chronic pain, including:

•    Weak or unstable muscles
•    Tight muscles
•    Degenerative changes to the bones and muscles
•    Poor posture
•    And more

By stimulating muscles with vibration, WBV machines require that your body adapt by flexing the muscles. It’s an effective way to create muscle contractions without requiring people to actually engage in traditional exercise, which can be difficult or impossible for someone suffering from chronic pain.

With the high rate of vibration, muscles contract at an accelerated rate so the process is quick and only requires a short period of time on a WBV machine. The machine also utilizes about 95 percent of all muscles, including the stabilizing muscles that, when active and strong, can help reduce pain.

In addition to all these benefits, WBV machines can reduce pain by doing all of this with little to no stress on the body.

Unlike traditional exercise, these machines won’t place added stress on the tendons, ligaments, or supporting tissues so it’s generally a safe and effective method for anyone, regardless of current fitness or pain level.

WBV is also a great choice for seniors trying to maintain or regain their active lifestyle because it doesn’t involve strenuous activity. In fact, clients can increase circulation throughout their body, develop muscle strength, improve flexibility, and speed up recovery and regeneration of damaged tissues.

Over the past few years I have worked with clients suffering from different types of chronic pain and all of them have found relief with a combination of WBV and Infrared Sauna therapy, while also seeing an increase in muscle tone and weight management.
