There are federal statutes that supposedly protect government whistleblowers from retaliation, but like every other law on the books, they are selectively enforced against political opponents in the era of Joe Biden.
While Democrats continue to virtue signal about "fairness" and "democracy," they never practice it, as evidenced by the way the regime is allowing the FBI to punish agents and staff who are blowing the whistle on the bureau's overt politicization.
As noted by New York Post columnist Miranda Divine, even FBI heroes are being mistreated and punished, just like supporters of former President Donald Trump who just happened to be in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, when the deep state launched a false flag attack on the Capitol Building.
"Bombshell allegations by FBI Special Agent Steve Friend contained in a whistleblower complaint filed late Wednesday with the Department of Justice inspector general reveal a politicized Washington, DC, FBI field office cooking the books to exaggerate the threat of domestic terrorism, and using an 'overzealous' January 6 investigation to harass conservative Americans and violate their constitutional rights," she wrote in a column last week.
"Friend, 37, a respected 12-year veteran of the FBI and a SWAT team member, was suspended Monday, stripped of his gun and badge, and escorted out of the FBI field office in Daytona Beach, Fla., after complaining to his supervisors about the violations," she noted further.
Friend, who says he did not vote for Trump in 2020, was declared absent without leave by the bureau last month after he refused to take part in SWAT raids against Jan. 6 suspects he says are being conducted purely for political effect, and in direct violation of established FBI policy against excessive use of force. These suspects have only been accused of misdemeanors -- charges that the FBI normally would not even become involved in, deferring to state and local law enforcement.
Divine said that Friend, who is a father to two small children, has sabotaged his "dream career" because he can't live with himself if he continues to be a part of Biden's political persecution of conservative Americans.
“I have an oath to uphold the Constitution,” he told supervisors last month while objecting to an Aug. 24 raid on a J6 subject in the Jacksonville, Fla., area. “I have a moral objection and want to be considered a conscientious objector.”
According to Divine, Friend "said he told his immediate boss twice that he believed the raid, and the investigative process leading up to it, violated FBI policy and the subject’s right under the Sixth Amendment to a fair trial and Eighth Amendment right against cruel and unusual punishment."
Friend is one of around 20 FBI whistleblowers who have been in contact with Republican members of Congress to report on the overt politicization of the bureau under Biden -- a major scandal that would have been front-page news on every major 'mainstream' news outlet in the country if it were occurring under Trump.
The FBI vet is reporting, among other things:
-- A grassy area outside the Capitol has been designated a restricted zone long after the Jan. 6 incident that was not a restricted area on the day of the incident so that the FBI can go after more innocent Americans;
-- Domestic terrorism cases are being opened on innocent Americans who weren't even in D.C. the day of the incident, much less at the Capitol Building;
-- The bureau is hyping a "right-wing domestic terror threat" by farming out J6 cases to field offices around the country, to make the 'threat' appear far larger than it actually is;
-- The FBI has plans to prosecute anyone who was even peripherally associated with the incident, with another wave of 'suspects' about to be referred to a field office in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The FBI is out of control, and if Republicans win control of Congress in November, they have to crack down by withholding funding. That's the only way to bring the agency to heel and have ranking officials held responsible.
