Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: GOP will hold Biden, Dems accountable after midterms
By Ramon Tomey // Aug 05, 2022

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently said the Republican Party will hold President Joe Biden and others in the Democratic Party accountable after the November midterm elections.

The congresswoman for the Peach State said during an interview on Epoch TV's "Crossroads" that the Democrats are "wasting taxpayer money" through the sham House Jan. 6 Select Committee hearing. This, she added, only pushed the "anti-Trump" narrative espoused by the "fake" committee.

"I was interested in the committee at one time because I feel like we do need to know what happened on Jan. 6. But as you can see, it is a completely one-sided witch hunt where they are creating their own story."

"They're wasting the American people's taxpayer dollars – and the [mainstream media] is going right along with it, filling up the airwaves with their ridiculous lies. That's what they have to do, [make] you want to know why they hate [former] President [Donald] Trump more than anyone on planet Earth."

According to Greene, the House Jan. 6 Select Committee's motivation is to further malign Trump.

"They want to make President Trump as toxic as possible, because they know he’s running again for president and they want to hurt him as much as they can. [He] did nothing wrong, none of us did. All we did was plan to object [to the Electoral College votes], just like the Democrats did."

The GOP has promised to establish a legitimate committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Jan. 6 siege, alongside the reasons why the Capitol was not fortified even though signs of trouble already loomed ahead.

Democrats were behind the current iteration of the Jan. 6 Select Committee, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointing members of her own party to form the majority of the committee. She also picked two GOP lawmakers – Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney and Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger – to serve as minority committee members. According to Greene, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was not allowed to pick his own selection for the committee.

"I really look forward to Republicans taking back the House, so that we can do our own investigation [about] Jan. 6," said the Georgia congresswoman.

GOP also seeks to hold Biden accountable for national security breaches

Greene mentioned that aside from finding out the real score about the Jan. 6 Capitol siege, she and her GOP colleagues will hold Biden for his actions that undermine national security.

One such threat the congresswoman cited was the Biden administration's sale of millions of barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to other foreign nations – including China. The White House itself confirmed in a July 26 statement that more than 125 million barrels from the SPR were sold in four transactions.

"Since the president authorized the historic release of one million barrels per day from the SPR earlier this spring, the Department of Energy has already sold more than 125 million barrels into the market, including nearly 70 million barrels that have already been delivered to purchasers and additional barrels planned to be delivered to customers in the weeks and months to come."

According to the congresswoman, Chinese petroleum company Unipec bought part of the oil sold by the SPR. Private equity firm BHR Partners became a stakeholder of Sinopec, Unipec's parent firm, in 2014. Incidentally, BHR Partners arose from a joint venture between a Chinese investment firm and another company established by presidential son Hunter Biden – establishing the Beijing-Washington connection.

"When Biden and the administration allowed all these … barrels of oil to be sold to countries like China, they really are attacking our national security," she said. "It's an abuse of power by the president, and his son is making money off of that." (Related: Biden administration sold close to one million barrels of strategic reserve petroleum to Chinese corporation connected with Hunter Biden.)

"That's an impeachable offense, of course, [but] I believe Biden should be impeached for many reasons."

Greene's GOP colleagues have repeatedly called for an investigation into the presidential son's business dealings in China and Ukraine. If they take control of the lower chamber of Congress following the midterms, they have promised to thoroughly investigate these dealings inked out during the elder Biden's tenure as vice president.
