Female skateboarder speaks out following loss to MTF trans competitor
By Ramon Tomey // May 24, 2022

A biological female skateboarder voiced out her disappointment after losing to a male-to-female (MTF) transgender competitor. She also pushed back against the transgender takeover of women's sports, claiming that she is "sick of being bullied into silence."

Taylor Silverman, 27, took to Instagram on May 17 to protest her loss at the Red Bull Cornerstone Content in December 2021. Lillian Gallagher, an MTF transgender, finished first while Silverman landed in second place. The biological female skateboarder did not accept the loss due to Gallagher having an unfair advantage over the other participants.

According to the second placer, Gallagher took home a total of $5,000 cash prize – which was "meant for the female athletes." Silverman took home $2,750, while the third placer went home with $750 in prize money. "The girl who deserved $1,000 for best trick took [home] nothing, along with whoever would have placed third," Silverman remarked.

Silverman also included a screenshot of her email to Erich Dummer, senior sports marketing manager for the energy drink brand, outlining her grievance.

"A biological man with a clear advantage won the women's division, best trick [competition] and also won multiple qualifiers. This took away the opportunity that was meant for women to place and earn money," she wrote.

"What happened was unfair. At that time, I was too uncomfortable to speak up. I understand that in today's society, even some women think this is acceptable. But I believe in doing the right thing, even if it's not the popular thing." (Related: Trans women are men and pretending otherwise is cultural insanity.)

Silverman asked Dummer for a meeting in the same email, but the request appeared to fall on deaf ears.

"I [deserve] to place first, be acknowledged for my win and get paid. I reached out to Red Bull and was ignored. I am sick of being bullied into silence."

More sportswomen speaking out against trans takeover

Gallagher's victory and Silverman's complaint about it came amid criticism of MTF transgenders taking over and dominating women's sporting events. MTF transgender Lia Thomas, born Will Thomas, made headlines for dominating collegiate women's swimming events – at the expense of biological female competitors.

Former collegiate athlete-turned-actress Natasha Ward also posted her criticism of transgenders such as Thomas overrunning women's sports in a series of Instagram stories.

"Supporting trans freedom does not mean it's OK to violate the rights of biological women," she said. "Pretending that trans women are not men who have a biological advantage, and [therefore placing] an undue burden on biological women, is make-believe. It is not science or fact."

"In the long run, women will have to take illegal substances in order to beat men 'identifying' as women in women's sports. [This will] ultimately [push] women out of the upper echelons of elite sports entirely – as we biologically cannot compete apart from enhanced substances – [and forces] women to endanger their health."

Even Thomas' teammates at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) expressed disagreement with her presence in women's swimming. Sixteen of "her" teammates in the UPenn women's swimming team penned a letter to the university and Ivy League officials calling for Thomas to be banned from competing.

"We fully support Lia Thomas in ["her"] decision to affirm ["her"] gender identity and to transition from a man to a woman. Lia has every right to live her life authentically," the 16 UPenn swimmers argued.

"However, we also recognize that when it comes to sports competition, the biology of sex is a separate issue from someone's gender identity. Biologically, Lia holds an unfair advantage over the competition in the women's category, as evidenced by ["her"] rankings that have bounced from No. 462 as a male to No. 1 as a female."
