The right seeks to convince others their policy prescriptions are the best by using reasoning, logic, examples and superior arguments. The left doesn't care about debate, logic or reasoning and instead instinctively resorts to violence in order to force their will on others.
Case in point: Rather than press their elected representatives to do more to protect abortion rights (why anyone would want to is something else altogether) after a leaked draft Supreme Court opinion earlier this week indicated a majority of justices support overturning the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, leftist organizations are planning to go to justices' homes to scream, shout and pressure them into reversing their decision.
According to the UK's Daily Mail:
Tall fencing started going up around the Supreme Court in northeast Washington, D.C. on Wednesday evening as tensions rose between protesters following the leak of a draft opinion that signaled an impending overturn of Roe v. Wade.
Workers erected the massive fencing around the perimeter of the marble building just east of the U.S. Capitol building as Justices began canceling public appearances amid warnings protests could get increasingly violent.
Left-wing groups are planning to send activists and protesters to the homes of conservatives justices.
One group calling itself "Ruth Sent Us," in reference to the late liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (who would not have approved of anyone harassing justices at their homes), has published the alleged addresses of Justices Samuel Alito (who wrote the as-yet-unofficial draft ruling), Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Chief Justice John Roberts (who reportedly did not sign off on the draft opinion) and are now planning a "walk-by" of their homes on May 11.
"Our 6-3 extremist Supreme Court routinely issues rulings that hurt women, racial minorities, LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights," says the group's website, according to the Daily Mail. "We must rise up to force accountability using a diversity of tactics."
Of course, if the nation's highest court tilted toward the left in this ruling, in the minds of these hypocrites, it wouldn't be "extreme."
The planned action comes following the publication of the draft ruling which was leaked to POLITICO earlier this week. The opinion was actually dated February 4, and it was signed by Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett. Official spokespersons for the court note that the ruling is preliminary and that customarily, rulings are sent to the various justices after they are written for analysis, debate and argument.
“The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right,” POLITICO reported.
In his draft ruling, Alito began: “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start."
“We, therefore, hold the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion. Roe and Casey must be overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion must be returned to the people and their elected representatives,” he continued in a document that was labeled "Opinion of the Court."
The outlet added:
Deliberations on controversial cases have in the past been fluid. Justices can and sometimes do change their votes as draft opinions circulate and major decisions can be subject to multiple drafts and vote-trading, sometimes until just days before a decision is unveiled. The court’s holding will not be final until it is published, likely in the next two months.
Thanks to threats by the left, justices who were scheduled to appear at events are now either rethinking those appearances or canceling them outright.
Alito was scheduled to participate in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals judicial conference on Thursday to review emergency appeals to that court but he canceled. It also wasn't clear whether Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Thomas, who were slated to get remarks at a similar conference for the 11th Circuit Thursday and Friday were going to keep those commitments.
The American left doesn't want to debate ideas, they simply want to impose their own views by force, which makes them un-American.
