Jay Leno cancels HIMSELF for joking about Koreans eating dog meat… now he feels bad for Asians, but not the slaughtered dogs
By Ethan Huff // Apr 11, 2021

After receiving threats from the Media Action Network for Asian Americans (MANAA), late-night talk show legend Jay Leno has issued a publicly apology for all the jokes he ever told throughout his career about Koreans eating dog meat.

MANAA head Guy Aoki reportedly threatened Leno's new employers at Fox, where he now hosts the game show "You Bet Your Life," with a boycott unless they fired the host. This prompted Leno to say he was sorry for offending Asians about their dog consumption habits.

"At the time I did those jokes, I genuinely thought them to be harmless," Leno said during a joint press release with Aoki. "I was making fun of our enemy North Korea, and like most jokes, there was a ring of truth to them."

Leno went on to claim that during the years in which he made such jokes, the "prevailing attitude" was one of not caring about political correctness. After all, the whole point of late-night talk shows was to make fun of various things and people groups.

It was never really about "hating" anyone or being malicious, but instead about enjoying some good humor, which is apparently no longer allowed and can get a person "canceled" from his career.

"Whenever we received a complaint, there would be two sides to the discussion," Leno added. "Either 'We need to deal with this' or 'Screw 'em if they can't take a joke.'"

Leno could have left it at that, but instead, in an effort to protect his career and fortunes, pandered to Aoki and MANAA by further gushing an apology and stating that he knew in his "heart" that making jokes against Asians "was wrong."

Dear, America: STOP apologizing to the cancel cult

It took Leno nearly two decades to realize the "error" of his ways. He has now conveniently come to the conclusion, right as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is aggressively pushing its "#StopAsianHate" meme, that making fun of Asians is wrong.

Standing up for the dogs they consume, however, is apparently not so wrong as Leno made no mention about the poor creatures during his apology.

"I am issuing this apology," Leno further stated. "I do not consider this particular case to be another example of cancel culture but a legitimate wrong that was done on my part."

"MANAA has been very gracious in accepting my apology. I hope that the Asian American community will be able to accept it as well, and I hope I can live up to their expectations in the future."

Again, Leno has lots of cars, homes, and a reputation to keep. If that means telling Asians, or at least the triggered ones, what they want to hear, then so be it. This comes with the territory in Hollywood, after all.

To pretend as if he actually cares about offending Asians, though, is nothing short of laughable. If Leno truly felt as though he did something wrong by making all those jokes all those years, then he would have confessed his sorrow at some inopportune time when his career was not on the line.

In this writer's opinion, Leno is guilty of nothing except being a coward in his capitulation to cancel culture. He can claim all day long that he did not just "cancel" himself, but that is exactly what he did.

It is no different than what the North American Scrabble Players Association (NASPA) did by removing some 226 "offensive" words from the Scrabble dictionary to appease the "offended."
