Ohio lawmaker demands answers from FBI on Hunter Biden’s illicit foreign deals
By Ramon Tomey // Oct 09, 2020

An Ohio congressman has written to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding its response to Hunter Biden’s deals with various foreign nationals. In a Sept. 24 letter, Rep. Jim Jordan asked FBI Director Christopher Wray about the bureau’s response towards Biden’s illicit deals. The letter comes after Sens. Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley released a report on Sept. 23 detailing “misconduct and political criminal activity” during the term of former President Barack Obama.

Jordan’s letter to Wray outlined four questions: Three asking whether the younger Biden was investigated after receiving $3.5 million from the wife of a former Moscow mayor, as well as payments that Biden made to people involved in human trafficking and organized prostitution and transactions with Chinese nationals that had “potential criminal financial activity.”

The last question by Jordan inquired about the bureau’s actions on senior State Department official George Kent’s revelation: Oligarch and Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky paid $7 million to the Ukrainian prosecutor-general seven months after Biden joined the Burisma board.

Sen. Johnson, Grassley found a long rap sheet for Hunter Biden

In their report, the two senators found several potential conflicts of interest involving Hunter Biden -- most of them regarding his presence as a board member at Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company with a history of corruption. In December 2014, seven months after Hunter joined the company, Burisma owner and Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky allegedly paid a $7 million bribe to the Ukrainian prosecutor general. Kent, who was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv at that time, learned of the bribery and reported it to the FBI.

Kent’s concerns about conflict of interest fell on deaf ears, leading him to emphasize in an email to colleagues that Hunter Biden’s presence on Burisma’s board “was very awkward for all U.S. officials pushing an anti-corruption agenda in Ukraine.” Amos Hochstein, another State Department official, said that Hunter Biden’s position “enabled Russian disinformation efforts and risked undermining U.S. policy” in the country.

The Senate report also found that Biden received a $3.5 million wire transfer from Elena Baturina, the wife of former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov. A known associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Luzhkov died in December 2019 following heart surgery. Furthermore, the report found that Biden had business associations with Chinese nationals linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) such as Ye Jianming and Gongwen Dong -- which resulted in questionable transactions amounting to millions of dollars.

Moreover, Hunter Biden paid women from Russia and other countries in Eastern Europe who appeared to have links to a human trafficking and prostitution ring, according to the report. This further cements his ties to a much larger criminal syndicate.

A Biden win is a victory for both father and son – at the expense of the American people

Hunter Biden’s stint at Burisma happened during the term of his father, Joe Biden, as vice president under former President Barack Obama. The younger Biden’s shady foreign deals will definitely be swept under the rug if the elder Biden, currently the Democratic presidential candidate, wins the Nov. 3 elections.

During a Sept. 12 campaign rally in Minden, Nevada, President Donald Trump warned attendees that “if Biden wins, China wins!” The president’s warning had reasonable ground, based on the younger Biden’s business deals with individuals linked to the CCP and PLA—a complete 180-degree turn from the current administration’s refusal to treat China “with kid gloves”

The younger Biden’s questionable dealings can be used as a trump card by foreign countries wishing to undermine U.S. interests through blackmail, in case the elder Biden does win the presidential elections.
