Twitter flags Trump posts but continues to allow Iran’s Supreme Leader to call for the destruction of Israel
By JD Heyes // Aug 03, 2020

It’s quite obvious by now that not only are the major social media platforms vehemently opposed to President Donald Trump, they are very accommodating to some of the world’s most dangerous tyrants.

That includes Twitter, of course, whose ‘social justice editors’ have recently taken to “flagging” and “fact-checking” the president’s tweets, as though they are the arbiters of what the American people can and cannot hear from their own leader.

At the same time, however, the platform has consistently looked the other way when tyrants and would-be mass murders — like, say Iran’s supreme leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei — threatens to wipe out entire countries — like, say, Israel.

Breitbart News notes that Israel’s legislative body, the Knesset, has called out Twitter for ignoring Khamenei’s threats while flagging President Trump’s comments on the issues of the day that are germane to Americans:

Twitter came under fire at Israel’s Knesset Wednesday for flagging President Donald Trump’s tweets while allowing those by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei calling for Israel’s destruction to remain untouched. Incredibly, a Twitter official said Ayatollah Khamenei’s tweets do not violate the company’s rules against hate speech.

During a Knesset hearing on antisemitism in social media, international human rights lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky asked Twitter’s regional policy head Ylwa Pettersson why the U.S. president’s tweets were labelled as violating the social media giant’s rules on “glorifying violence”, and on a separate occasion “abusive behavior”, but not those of Khamenei, who “literally called for the genocide of Israel and the Jewish people.”

This came amid the platform’s suspension of Donald Trump Jr. after he tweeted out a video of doctors promoting hydroxychloroquine as a cure for COVID-19, as well as a 48-hour boycott of Twitter by Jewish people and their supports for anti-Semitism expressed online.

In response to the Iranian leader’s call for genocide — wiping out Israel completely and all Jews living in the country — Pettersson said that merely amounted to “foreign policy saber-rattling” and, thus, it’s no big deal.

“We have an approach toward leaders that says that direct interactions with fellow public figures, comments on political issues of the day, or foreign policy saber-rattling on military-economic issues are generally not in violation of our rules,” she told the Knesset members.

The member who initiated the hearing, MK Michal Cotler-Wunsh, interjected at that point and said, “I just want to fine-tune [Ostrovsky’s] question: Calling for genocide on Twitter is okay, but commenting on the political situation in certain countries is not okay?”

“If a world leader violates our rules but there is a clear interest in keeping that up on the service we may place it behind a notice that provides some more context about the violation and allows people to click through if they wish to see that type of content,” Pettersson continued.

For example: The platform removed the “like” button from Trump’s tweet about ‘looting’ and ‘shooting,’ but left the post up so users could click on the content to see it.

This is the problem with putting young Millennials in positions of power after they have been propagandized and brainwashed by modern Left-wing education systems.

If Iran had the power to do so and believed it could get away with it, the country would literally destroy Israel and kill every Jewish citizen living there (and elsewhere) because of the Ayatollah’s militant Islamic beliefs.

That Pettersson, as a ‘regional policy’ head, either doesn’t know this or is tone-deaf to it is an outrage. Clearly, there is no comparison between President Trump using a saying from the 1960s in response to looting and violence to the leader of a country threatening to wipe out an entire country over religious differences.

Following the hearing, Cotler-Wunsh tweeted, “Wow. Twitter just admitted that tweets calling for genocide against Jews by Iranian leaders DON’T violate its policy! This is a double standard. This is antisemitism.”

Yes, and yes.

Meanwhile, those Ayatollah tweets, though.
